Did you just call Yao the biggest bust in NBA history?

I'm still not sold on TyTy.

The point of KPj is for his 6'5"-ish frame
    abusing smaller point guards/guards like
we saw vs the Mavs recently. I don't recall
the name of the little guy trying to check
him, but Ryan Hollins noted when he did it.

There will be more and more 6'6" PG's or
those near 6'7" like LaMelo or the Thompson Twins coming out. Haliburton 6'5"-ish.
    Nick Smith 7'5"-ish.

I accept Scoot Henderson at 6'2" but would rather
    have switch everything defenders.

Just my preference. Sengun needs to hit
3's more than be a post up threat In my
    personal doghouse until he does.

Zone defense can stifle a lot we do.
    PnR, Post Ups......3-pt shooters bust
    a zone

edited: guess it was 5'11" McKinley Wright (Mavs)

lol. NBA titles? lol. Robert Horry has more rings than Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryan, Kareem, Magic, etc. That is a lazy analysis.

Let's use our brain and play a game. I anoint you a GM. I give you two options:
    1. I guarantee you that Wemby's NBA career matches Yao's production (8 years maxing out at 25ppg)
    or
    2. No guarantees, good or bad. Maybe injuries (ala Bill Walton, Greg Oden, or Zion Williamson) and you get vaporware. Or maybe you get a Lebron career. Or maybe just never lives up to the hype (ala Stromile Swift, Hasheem Thabeet, or Kwame Brown)

    What say you?

Wemby is a special special player. But the odds are still against us in being able to draft him. The fan base does not have the stomach for much more of what we have continuing into the future, so we do need a back up plan. If we really want to contend, then I think we try to find a way to trade for Anthony Edwards.

Anthony Black is expected to go in the lotto too. 6'7 point guard. I really like him.

I despise tanking especially with the lottery odds the way they are, with a 14% chance at the top pick, I would rather build through trades.

If we could get Wemby, we could offer Sengun to Utah for their Minny pick and draft Wallace, who looks like he could be the Jabari Smith of PGs.

    Wallace / TyTy / JC
    Green / Mathews
    KMJ / Eason
    Jabari / Tate
    Wemby / Garuba

(Or Anthony Black if you happen to like him better)

No. Keep Sengun; sign FVV in free agency.

    FVV / TyTy
    Green / KPJ
    Eason / KPJ / KMJ
    Jabari / Sengun
    Wemby / Sengun / Garuba

FVV is not really a setup point guard and he regressed pretty bad this year.

Do you want another KPJ? And at a very high price tag to boot?

A 7'5" Nick Smith would make Wembanyama a #2 pick in this draft. :D And the Thompson Twins are more wings/scoring guards than PG's in the NBA (I think). It's even debatable that Nick Smith will be an ideal PG in the NBA with his alpha-scorer tendencies, but who knows.

Well that goes with my belief everyone is going to be a "point" every position.

I hated micro ball that Patrick Fertitta gave us
of a bunch of 6'3" players (McLemore, Austin Rivers, EG, Westbrook)......teams have learned
to stock positions 1-4 with versatile mobile wing types.

Switch everything defense and switch everything offense.....with one good 6'8"-ish rim protector.
Looney or Robert Williams. Can Garuba be our
mobile 6'8" rim protector in the future?
Nice if he could also be a higher volume
    3-pt shooter while maintaining a decent 3-pt %

Black is more of a combo guard than a traditional point.

He's very high on my prospect list .... probably top 5 or 6.

To build thru traders you need something of value to trade .... the 14th pick isn't any more valuable to one GM than it is another.

Just because we don't end up with the #1 pick doesn't mean we didn't get a valuable player. Top 3-5 picks are the most valuable commodities outside of established stars.

Green & Jabari are premium prospects.

Green has outplayed the guy who was picked ahead of him ....

    It's not #1 or bust.

Imagine being told you have a 1 in 14 chance of being a billionaire. Of those 14 you have the best chance at 14%, along with two others in the group. The caveat, you have to stay in your financial situation you are in today for the remainder of the year. No additional income.

Do you do it? Not to mention that if you don’t win the top purse you will still receive a big potentially life changing payday. I’m certain 90-95% are going to say yes.

This. With Wemby we need an experienced PG badly. Our PG doesn't need to be a star he needs to table set for our real stars. Wemby/Jabari/Green/FVV should be at least a play-in team. Going to have to overpay for him to get him to come here but this team cannot afford another year of a PG clown show.

As is every point guard in existence. There are almost no more true point guards. That barely exists. Who was the last? Tyus Jones?
