THE Hard CORE: - KEEPERS unless a blockbuster trade can be had. 1. Jalen Green 2. Jabari Smith 3. Alperun Sengun 4. Tari Eason The Soft Core: Keepers unless needed as an incremental piece to getting a quality starter. 5. Kevin Porter Jr. 6. Kenyon Martin Jr - if he wants to make 'demands' - he can go... 7. JaSean Tate - backup glue guy on a decent contract... if i can get some value back - sure... The Incomplete - still deciding. 8 Josh Christopher 9 TyTy Washington 10 Usman Garuba The expendables - These players need to go to clear room for others, or for their own opportunity which is not coming in Houston. Garrison Mathews - As a 12th man sure keep him but if you can bundle him and get anything of value do it. Boban Marjanovic - irrelevant Bruno Fernando - as a 3rd backup big sure - but as a long term investment - no. Eric Gordon - not in future plans - grab wharever u can... DaShen Nix - irrelevant Trevor Hudgins - irrelevant Darius Days - irrelevant Goal is Wemby or Scoot... and then add the other position via free agent or trade... x/jabari/eason/jg/x.... sengun/kpj.... kmj/tate/jc/ty...
Yeah i think it would be Wemby, Smith, 3 spot, Green, KPJ. The 3 spot would probably be between Tari and KJ if he's still here.
We debate about core players when there is no core concept, core strategy, core plan. Very vague ideas of just developing or making Play In. DD can ask every month and the answer would be about the same. No transparency from Stone or Tilly.
Right now Jalen and Jabari, and our soon to be drafted high pick. Anyone outside of that I could see traded.
I think Alperen should come second here, the only thing is he is reluctant to shoot. Jabari isn't there yet and Alperen is already Turkish MVP at age 18 or 19 and now 20. I see the trade value of Bari only because of his name and being picked third.
It's so odd. With Harden, the perception in Clutchfans and neutral fans was reverse where non Rocket NBA fans despised Harden and underrated his position in the league as in continuously leaving him out of top 5 convos for other players in neutral NBA forums. It's the reverse with Green. Most non Rocket fans think he's a superstar in the making and many Clutchfans posters will spend hours of their lives in here saying they don't see Green as one. I honestly think this is a situation of a bunch of Rocket fans who in general don't follow the league as a whole and never have been in a situation developing 19 and 20 year olds. Pretty much every high level talent that came to the Rockets came more developed either because they joined the league after multiple years in college or we traded for them and they were already established. In fact this probably is the first time in modern NBA history that Rocket fans experiencing 19-20 year olds getting full rotational minutes. So it's a new experience for most of you guys here and you guys don't know how to handle it. It's fine.
Yep. The process is so long. Plus Jabari and Jalen weren’t Banchero and Cunningham in being a bit further along. I look at Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They have become high level stars but it wasn’t a three year process.
Don't really see a core yet.. I see players that are talented as hell.. A core would indicate that you UNDOUBTEDLY wish to build with/around at least 3 or more players.. I think Jalen and Bari are maybe the only 2, as of now , I'd keep no matter what someone offers .. The rest can peace out if the price is remotely close to fair!
We know how good Jaylen Brown is now. Many have him around borderline top 10. You would think Celtic fans would be very fanboyish when comparing him to Green but I've literally seen Celtic fans say that Green reminds them of Brown at 20 but Green's starting point skillwise is much higher. That is high praise coming from non Rocket fans comparing them to their current superstars. I mean the player comparison it self doesn't make sense to me because I think Brown and Green have different body types and different games.
Green Smith Sengün That is our core. Those players will lead us to the next highpoint in Rockets basketball or their trade will facilitate bringing in a star player that can
What would you say is your level of confidence that Jalen Green will be a perennial all star and all NBA guy? Do you think the chance of this happening is over 50%? That's why we picked him and that's what we need him to be, and he hasn't shown us yet that he will be that guy. Some guys show it really quickly like Luka, Zion, Trae Young, or whoever. I don't think its unreasonable or "odd" to view Jalen as a big question mark in this area. It's not like we have a big contingent advocating that we give up on him or anything. He's just not there yet.
Why does he need to be Luka or Zion to be a superstar lol? Like I said your post reflects on my theory that Rocket fans are simply not accustomed to watching 20 year olds play.
Falling somewhere inbetween a Lavine type player and a Luka type player is a wide gradient. Green will fall somewhere inbetween. I think his production at his age and the eye test suggests this.
Ranked Keepers fo sho Green Smith Sengun Eason KMJ Mebe in time KPJ Ty Bruno Trayde fer value Christopher Fernando Trash can All others bur especially Gordon and Nix.
To me, a core is the central and most important part of a working or functioning system. It represents that systems dynamics and defines its prime mode of operating. The Rockets are a assembly of scattered parts that don't fit or work together well enough to define them as a functioning system much of the time. As such, a core cannot be established, defined or elucidated upon.
Yeah I agree with those saying Jalen and Jabari. That's the core. Everybody else is still subject to evaluation I think, and I wouldn't be surprised if any of them were moved for somebody else if the FO think they're not working out.
The core is the 1st round picks of the Stone led era which will include this upcoming draft selection(s) Then the elites of that core will be extended after rook deal while the lower tier will be moved for improving the team via trade or allowed to walk after rookie deal is up
Huh? How on earth did you read my post and get that from it? Try reading it again. He doesn't have to be those guys, and I didn't say he does. I said with some guys you know right away and then I gave some examples. Would it have been more clear if I didn't give those examples? The point was that he is not a guy where you know it at game 100. I don't know when we will know it, but right now we don't. Also, you didn't answer my question.
