First 2025 is only protected to top 10 not top 20. Its not realistic to tank for that long. Our current draft picks will be looking to leave and we'd be starting all over again. Realistically with Green Bari Tari Alp KPJ etc progressing in development surely. We aren't going to be the worst record or even 3td worst.
OKC? The same OKC that has is going on year 4 of a tank, the same team that always starts off fast and ends up in the lottery? Memphis never really tanked, and they got lucky with Morant being a true superstar player and a great coach, they are the outlier which makes my point. What is more likely we draft a superstar like Morant and a great coach, or we are more like OKC, Orlando and the Kings? Or are you happy spending a lot of money and being the Bulls?
I was referring to the Harden, Westbrook, Durant OKC. I wasn't referring to any tanking. Just teams that popped earlier than expected. I really hope that we draft a franchise changing superstar this year. I guess it depends on our draft position. I said that I was skeptical because I know that there are no guarantees. I just a hopeful fan. I want a combination of a superstar draft pick this year, a better coach, and strong additions in free agency. I want it all. In hopes that we can build a champion in a few years.
That's 3 years, and they lucked out on picking 3 all NBA type of players, do we have 1 so far? This illustrates my point perfectly, we have no one who is comparable to any of those 3 guys, They also drafted Green who was a valuable trade piece.
Lol Russel Westbrook his first couple of years averaged significantly less points than Green on significantly worse scoring efficiency. That doesn't make up for his assist advantage. He had Durant as a teammate and he couldn't have respectable efficiency. Also Westbrook was a back up pg in college when Green was a starter in the gleague at the same age. Westbrook also had two years of college experience and came into the league older than Green.
No arguments from me on those points. It's that's a high bar for both Jalen and Jabari to reach. I hope they do as a fan. I think they are both late bloomers. Under weight and still raw. I believe that a few off seasons, added muscle and work that it's at the very least possible. I have very high hopes for of them, but know that it will take time. So no I'm not expecting an OKC type of quick turnaround.
What are you babbling about? What does Greens scoring efficiency have to do with this conversation? Once again you charge in here and start saying **** that has nothing to do with the conversation, why don't you try and find the context and then comment. Yes we all know Westbrook is a very inefficient player, but we also know he can lead a team as the alpha to the playoffs, that's something we still don't know about Green. What the hell does Westbrook being a back-up pg have to do with anything, anyway, and I thought Green's playing in the G League means he was better prepared as a rookie than a guy from college? Edit. I also went and looked at the 2nd year stats and Greens numbers are not significantly higher than Westbrook they both shot about 42% overall once again you just make **** up and hope nobody checks your math.
I hope so as well, and I appreciate being able to have a back and forth and it not having to turn into a death match. I hope both Green and Smith turn into all NBA types, I just realize how hard it is.
Jalen played 17 games in a gleague bubble tournament. A full season in a NCAA program is more high level development time and Westbrook did two years of it hence why he joined the league at 20 and not 19. And why is scoring efficiency relevant? I mean you are listing names of players Jalen Green can never be apparently and I'm just explaining how those player faired in their similar stage of development. That is what is relevant to the discussion. You are the one making claims about what Jalen can't be. Therefore I'm showing why you are wrong.
I never made one claim about what Jaylen can be, why do you keep making **** up? Once again you illustrate why nobody should try and engage with you, why do you have to create straw men all the time? I am glad that you ridiculously compared Green to Brown, once again displaying how ridiculous your arguments can be. Anyway, I spent far too long engaging with you and I know how this ride ends, so I am done.
We're pretty much in the same place. It all depends on what they do in FA / Trade. I hope that they don't blow their wad on some half ass solution, either get a superstar or save your bullets.
with how cap space works / trading for guys ... it could be worth it to sign someone to an Overpay in term of salary but only give them 1 year .
how can anyone watch these past 2 years and think tanking is the answer? we got two top 3 picks in back to back years and the team regressed. it's on pace to be 3 now. but people now want to tank for a 4th straight year next season? if you want to watch an entire roster of kids that don't know how to play basketball, just watch college basketball at that point.
As long as Sil@ss is here……. The tank is on.. So unless he’s fired….. The Tank Commander will steer us next season as well.
Bingo, keeping SIlas will cost us ANY shot of reaching the playoffs next season ensuring a lottery pick for OKC. The talent improving by experience will likely keep the pick out of the bottom 4 ensuring the pick goes to them. Hiring a competent coach is the only way to make the pick irrelevant.
