KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

Plays like this is the reason why people are so harsh on KPJ. OK bro, Bari made a mistake, he should have passed the ball to you but that doesn't mean you don't have to run back.

 

I am not a KPJ hater. I see his potential value as a one on one scorer and a catch and shoot 3 point player as a starter or off the bench. If he can help the team win in any capacity, I'm all for it.

But plays like these are getting old, and so are the excuses. Our transition defense is horrendous. And this is our "leader", who consistently doesn't get back on defense for any number of reasons.

It's not completely his fault though. He has been coddled by Stone, Silas and the rest of the organization. No one holds him accountable. They act like they are afraid to correct him. So why would he put effort into something like getting back on defense?

 

Transition defense is one of the few things you expect from a young team to be good at and the Rockets are dead last in the league while OKC and Charlotte are top 2. It's the most obvious proof of lack of discipline in this team imo.

 

I'm sick of this soft approach to this guy. Move him to the bench as a wing or get him off the roster.

 

Why would defense be something a young team should be good at? Defense is about experience and communication as a team unit.

How are a bunch of 19 and 20 year olds who never played together until last season or this season going to develop the experience and chemistry between teammates to be a good defensive unit?

 

The irony here is how many times has KPJ missed a corner open shooter this season?

KPJ isn’t terrible and he isn’t great, he’s average. He’s the best PG option for the Rockets right now until Stone brings in another PG.

it could be cleaned up with a 5 minute coaching session, but the org clearly doesn’t care.

Watching one play and extrapolating out a team problem on one guy is lazy and stupid, yes he doesn’t get back at times, neither does anyone else.

If KPJ was born in any other country, he would've never made it further than their U20 representative teams.

The US is the only place where the athletes are so supreme and coddled to growing up - whereas everywhere else team basketball is preached.

I cannot fathom a real head coach seeing that disgusting play - repeatedly - and not tie a chain around his neck so he never steps foot out of the dog house again.

I can't remember who made the 'KPJ's D is good' thread - but are they still around, or did they delete their account? Holy hell there's wrong. And then there's wrong.

If we're going to complain about defense, I'm all for it... but we should probably start the conversation with by far the worst defensive player on the team who happens to be in the starting lineup.... and it isn't KPJ.

I'd imagine though, most whining in this thread wouldn't want to have that conversation.

 

Quite frankly no one is going to trust your assessment of on court play because you never actually have any nuanced on court takes.

Name a single poster in Clutchfans that thinks you provide good basketball analysis. A single one.

 

Quite frankly, we both know you can't keep his dick out of your mouth for long enough to have a proper conversation on the subject.

On top of that, this is another example of you running into a situation where you know you don't have a counter argument for what was said, because you know it's true, so you resort to hand waiving to make it seem like you actually have something to say when you obviously don't.
