How many of those 20 year olds became Superstars? My definition of a superstar is an all time great. LeBron MJ Hakeem DD
Nothing in your analysis here gives a relative scale of skill and athleticsm. If Green was just a freak athlete then he would be drafted lower with someone like Kuminga and probably even lower than Kuminga because Kuminga has the better frame. He was drafted because he had advanced skill and athleticism. Green can be a better player going a different route than LaMelo. They are after all different type of players. laMelo doesn't have the pliability, acceleration and overall speed of Green. A good reason why Green is so special is how he's a top tier athlete. He isn't a top tier athlete because he can jump really high. He's a top tier athlete because he has elite control with that athleticsm. I think the Bulls commentator said it well after he made a nice finish - "man, every time this kid goes to the rim, he might get bumped, he might get off balance but still finishes so well". And this can be seen in LaMelo's and Green's respective fg% in the restricted area. Green is significantly higher even though he is the smaller player. Look at a player who is a mere all-star that Green gets compared to: Lavine. Lavine at 20 had no where near the handles of Green. Also for some reason their athleticism gets compared as similar but in reality the only similarity they really have is how high they jump with Lavine probably actually jumping higher. The video explains this. Green's athleticism is more similar to AI or Morant. Very pliable, a lot of wiggle, elite acceleration with a live dribble. Some guys can go really fast in the league without a dribble but not with a live dribble. Lavine has no where near the control on his handle at his top speed like Green. These are the traits that Green has that mere All-stars like Lavine doesn't have. LaMelo definitely might have the better career in fact its more likely. But the odds of Green having a better career isn't like 5%. It's more like 40%.
Cut and run - like always......there is no debate, LaMelo is better now, and I believe he will always be better (Barring injury)..... You think Green will be better - ok, that is like your opinion man, you might be right, you might be wrong, same for me. No debate needed.....am comfortable in my beliefs and you are in yours.....that's cool. DD
I'm sure there are plenty of one way low efficiency players who could be capable of it if they had enough opportunities created for them. Maybe you're just easy to impress.
https://hoopshype.com/lists/nba-top-25-players-under-25-rankings-2022-23/ Top 25 players under 25.... https://www.si.com/fannation/nba/fa...rs-old-or-younger-post-2021-22-season-edition Top 10 players under 24. There isn't a GM in the league that would turn down Green for LaMelo......I expected this on our Rox board..though......we love that potential. DD
Every year in league history there are high draft pick players drafted to poor teams that force feed high usage to said high draft pick. It's the nature of the draft. Bad teams get the top picks. And btw KPJ has never had a season with a ts% higher than Green's rookie year.
Any ranking is a ranking of their current play. These rankings are from Jalen just finishing his rookie season.
You know I've defended you as a human after people constantly call you an idiot and fat because you are one of the few posters here that doesn't have anonymity and I think that language against you is toxic. But man you are being so frustrating. Like obviously you aren't sincere. You calling laMelo a budding superstar and then list what you think are the only type of players that are superstars and the worst player you posted was Hakeem. Ya laMelo is a budding player who will reach prime Hakeem at the very least. No it's absurd. You aren't debating in good faith. Of course the definition of superstar extends beyond players only at Hakeem level or better.
What does it mean. Both those rankings are about current level of play. Jalen has only completed a rookie season. I know the difference between Green and LaMelo is only one season but at their age and stage of development one year is a lot of added experience to become better.
Its a fine thin line between what some call a Super vs. All-star, because Superstars are what I would call for sure All NBA 1st team(multi) with box office must see rather home/road, including some of those on the other 2nd/3rd teams though some may call them all stars, even though the all star team(game) has said Superstars on them Are you saying LaMelo will be top 10 while Green will possibly in the 20-25 range if they both reach their apex healthy? I don't think Green will ever be as good as a passer, but will develop efficient enough handles to challenge for possible scoring titles etc
