Yup, like Bob Marley people :
"......,......., never give up the fight"

    Or Millwall supporters likewise :
"No one likes us, we don't care".

    :)

Didn't you say the reason Alperen isn't a good scorer is because he can only score in the paint? Implicit in that statement is that a player can't be an effective scorer if they only score in the paint .Isn't that all we're trying to disprove here? Maybe I misunderstood your post.

Finally a relatively more productive discussion, which I think lies at the heart of determining Sengun's capacity as an nba player.

I understand @glimmertwins point of view. The main point I agree with is 'if Sengun is a huge defensive liability on the court, he won't get a major role on a contender' (not his exact words, more or less the general sentiment) . I am much more positive about the weaknesses he pointed out though.

    1) Rebounding: he has good anticipation and positioning. I don't see the rebounding as a weakness, as in 'he can't get rebounds outside of his area'. He is a good offensive rebounder, which is a very good sign.
    2) Getting killed on the pnr: His positioning, recovering, movement has improved over last year. He rarely makes obvious mistakes. And the guards are terrible defenders. So I am okay to wait and see on this one. Again not so negative.

As for offense, he needs to develop a shot and I don't see why he can't. (If he were allowed take 5 a game, we would have an idea about the rate he is improving). A main part of the argument against him is that he can't shoot. A center who shoots 79.3% from the line with a good looking stroke is certainly worth investing on and see where it goes in a few years. His handle has improved from last year, more than my expectation. Don't see any reason not to get much better.

The main line of criticism from a general perspective, as far as I understand, is to build around centers is hard and there are obvious problems with it. Jokic playing 5 on d but playing guard on offense is hard to build around, Embiid as great as he is, has his own game and it is not a fluent game combined with the guards. And Sengun won't be great as Jokic and Embiid. But trying to fit Sengun into some other great's game is the wrong thinking. He has his own game, his game is much more mobile than these two, meshes with guard play much more naturally and better. Overall I think his talents as a center fit very well with the modern game, if you are not fixated on not being a lob threat.

Finally for the stats comments, absolutely agree with @glimmertwins that 20/10/5 by itself is not proof of anything. But mostly sengun does a lot of things that the stats don't show. His on and off ball screen setting are very good. He can make quick correct passes without thinking to keep the game flowing. He doesn't force the game, which is very valuable and very rarely found at 20 year olds. His assist potential I think is much higher than 5, and he can be used like the missing piece in a fast flowing offense. His actual contribution to the offense is way more than the stats show, when he is used correctly.

Edit: he also tries to pass to the running lane of the guards, which is also very good once they get the connection.

You're right sort of -- I said that Sengun can only score in the paint until he can prove otherwise. Going to the Shaq card was preposterous. Only thing Sengun shares with Zion is probably weight. Zion outclasses him in virtually every other conceivable metric minus baby hooks. Zion can get his shot wherever he wants and has the ability to take and make 3's. Above the rim athletically and far superior as a defender - its bordering on the insane to use him as any sort of comp. to Sengun who is slow footed and limited athletically and has no jump shot to speak of.

If we MUST use comps for these guys then mine would be that Sengun is more like a Wish version of Arvydas Sabonis minus the ability to make outside shots and defend at a high level. Crafty passers with great feel around the basket. Thats not bad for a 2nd year player. Problem is that these guys want everyone to kiss the ground Alpy walks on and bow five times to a graven image of him. Either you love him and pretend not to notice his warts or you're on a list! The middle ground obviously is off limits .

I totally agree. And the addition of Jabari Smith should improve Sengun's game as well.
I hope that by next season he will be making 1-2 threes a game.

I dunno, I see them as basically the same people.

I like Sengun more as a player, but the overzealous fans make it REALLY hard to pull for them.

now to put all this in perspective, unlike jalen green and many players of his draft class
sengun is still in his rookie season...

he still didnt even play DOZEN OF REAL GAMES (30+MINUTES)!!!

6 minutes or 16 (4 x4 minutes) games dont really count especially since hes played out of position/proper role/teammates

If anything these games contribute negatively since they frustrate, throw out of rhythm and hurt confidence & motivation arising form natural progression of skills when exposed to constant stimulation during playing real and whole nba games....

so here were basically talking about 20 yrs old prospect that still didnt even get the real chance in nba to show what he can do...

all the negative or even cautious prognoses are 100% subjective and lack any basis in reality

imho sengun will be a force on defensive end as soon as he gets any semblance of real playing time on a real nba team with coaching and professional teammates trying to win and not just fighting others to a greater contract or role...

We're not talking about Sengun buddy. We're talking about your dumb take which is "You can't be a better scorer than Jalen if you have no threat outside of the restricted zone."

You have been proven wrong with multiple examples and now you are desperately trying to make it about Sengun. It's not about Sengun. It's about your lack of basketball knowledge.
