They built a team...No QB. That's the problem with that strategy. They have taken multiple QBs in the later rounds. ALL are BUST.

I agree we made the correct calls with Mario and Clowney (shoulda been Mack but that’s hindsight)

however, let’s say you have 7 holes to fill. A DE fills 1, a WR fills 1, an elite TE fills 2 in my opinion…. A QB can fill 3 or 4.. it’s that important.

and I’m not forcing the pick. I think the only weakness for Young is size. And I haven’t seen a small QB in the NFL get hurt by a hit yet that wouldn’t hurt a big QB.

also, everyone loves to use mahomes and Allen for arm strength. What about Mallet/Osweiler? Arm strength is nothing without an ability to read defenses, anticipate, be accurate, etc. Young is elite at all of that.

finally, forcing a pick of a small qb is better, in my opinion, than forcing the franchise to TRY to get another 1st pick and hope those next guys live up. Cuz Zach Wilson/trubisky/even Lawrence aren’t doing what they were predicted either.

Maye made a couple of very nice throws.. Often led his receivers for YAC .. He looked good throwing it last night.. I'll pay attention next year..

I think the reason that teams are willing to draft under-sized quarterbacks lately is that the league is doing everything to protect quarterbacks that it can. In this day and age, they're not going to walk that back. Quarterbacks are only going to get more protected. That's why I think the injury thing is overblown. Young has a very small history of injuries. It's not like he's Tua out there.

I get that there are other concerns about a small quarterback, but I don't think injuries are as big of a concern as people are making them out to be.

Their real problem is that they have wasted multiple years with past their prime vets and mediocre backups like Brissett, Rivers, Wentz and Ryan!
Now parts of their roster are injured, aging, left, etc...
Which underscores the importance of getting a top tier QB whenever you can.
If you don't have one then nothing else really matters that much.

That's why I'm against wasting good draft capital (and kicking the can down the road) by trading for someone else's trash like Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, etc... like some have suggested.
Look at the haul the NY got for Sam Darnold (2, 4 & 6).
That really helped the Jets rebuild and set the Panthers' back.

“I’m such a fan of Bryce Young. Probably the favorite guy of mine to watch in college football this season. He actually for me is the closest guy that we have since Aaron Rodgers came out of the draft when it comes to just natural talent.”
    — Texans legend™ Dan Orlovsky (on the OU/Florida State broadcast)

We have a different opinion on how successful Young can be. I think he will be ok. Like a Flutie Murray at best and there will be no championships.

I do respect your opinion and get where you're coming from. Agree to disagree.

The Texans have never won a championship and have little talent overall. You’re not really saying much by predicting he won’t win a championship.

Young won't win a championship regardless of who drafts him is what history says.

The majority of qbs that enter the league won’t win championships. That’s what history says.

    Their QB retired.

I'm feel confident that Ballard will draft Levis and the Texans will draft Young. Levis will become an Allen type player and Young will become a Flute type player. Why? Because it's the Texans way.

Zero 5'10 QB's have won championships.

But you think this is the guy that's going to break the trend.

He's much more likely to be Tua than Tommy.

That's a bit harsh. There have been numerous examples of QBs with size who have wound up as busts. In my opinion the keys to success for any QB taken are the ability to see the whole field, the ability to throw the ball and the ability to read defenses. Young has the last two down pat - it's the first that concerns me the most. I have watched a number of games featuring Kyler Murray and when they show play from field level behind the QB, you can see how difficult it is to see over the defensive linemen. If Young can find a way to overcome that, then he might just prove be the exception which would be exactly what the Texans need.
