I dont think Young is any better than Jones was in college and will at best due to physical limitations be as good as Jones is. College and the NFL are two different worlds.

Is that clear enough for you when it comes to my thoughts.

Bryce Young’s slide down draft boards is already starting… he’s not even in Kiper’s top 3 players. Kiper has Jalen Carter, Will Anderson and then Will Levis as 1-2-3. Expect to see more of Young falling when reality sets in.

He said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn’t a successful QB after 8 seasons!

And Kiper history is not very good. Levis is not the #1 QB on the Texans' board. He is probably #1 on the Colts' board.

Why do you think Colts have him 1?
That would be a bad thing for us, they draft a lot better than we do.

Bro, what do you call the last 21 years? Mediocre is what we do. We’ve had the first overal pick like 4 times and other than 2002 (Carr) we have ALWAYS chosen the non QB route. Clowney, Williams… how has it worked out for us? Mediocrity. We decided to stick with Schaub, stick with Carr, go the prototype route with Mallett/Osweiler. Then we got Watson.. blew up in our face. Would it be nice to have an Andre luck come available while we have a first pick? Hell yea. But Texans don’t have that luck. What I’m saying is:

The chance for Bryce Young to overcome being small and be good is MORE LIKELY than picking yet another “generational DE”, who plays well, somehow getting 1st overall pick again AND the other QBs in next class working out.

It has been said multiple times, by even the ppl who don’t want young that “if young was 6’3” then he is an easy pick first no problem.

So even though we have gone NOT QB multiple times, prototype QB multiple times, QB with a massage addiction and sexual assault tendency and NONE OF IT HAS WORKED. So I ask you, is being 5’10” but EVERYTHING ELSE AN ELITE QB, enough to punt another year and hope for the best? Or is maybe overcoming being short the actual more likely outcome?

And sorry, to answer your question, yes. Draft a QB becaus other than being short he is an elite qb, or do you disagree? And also I don’t think next year will work out like everyone thinks.. we might not even have first pick THIS year, but sure, let’s make plans for Williams/Maye next year.

Young is #1 on Cal's draft board. There is no doubt.

Not mocking faith, just pointing out how the Texans think.

Cal is religious though and hired Easterby because he pretended to be as well.

What kind of shape would this franchise be in if VY had been the pick over Mario? Or Bortles over Clownery. They were the correct calls at that time.

I don't think Young will be bad, however I think Young will be about as successful as Schaub was, even though I will agree Young has a stronger arm, his arm is far from elite. I see Young's arm strength in the Jimmy G/Dak light, strong enough but far from the Allen/Mahomes type arms. He's somewhat mobile but not even on the Manziel level there. In other words he's a 5'10 pocket QB and that's never worked out to a championship level in the NFL. Who knows though, maybe Young can be the 1st. Know this, if Caserio has to pick a QB because Cal makes him do it, I hope Young's the pick.

BTW, I can certainly see why you feel the way you do. But this isn't the year to be forcing a pick with so many holes to fill on the team.

Young is religious, so I think he's going to be the pick. Of course so was Watson supposedly, so there is that.

Until last year that was the case. Ballard is very good at his job. The Colts also gotta rebuild their ol.

I agree it's pretty clear that Cal and therefore the Texans make "faith-based" decisions on a lot of things, especially at the top, key positions.

But, and this is my BIGGEST FEAR, CJ Stroud is also a big Christian as well.
Someone posted an article about him in one of the draft threads.
He's very upfront about his faith just like Bryce is.

Now I think the Texans brain trust (no pun intended) would prefer Young not only because he tops most draft boards but also because he's an SEC guy (we looove SEC guys) and we (Nick) has Saban for inside info as well.

But what if we win 1 or 2 of our final games and don't get the #1 overall.
    Maybe Cal/Nick could say........"well Stroud is a good 2nd choice!" faith-wise.
That's my nightmare scenario as I just DO NOT want Stroud!

I could stomach trading down and taking a flyer on Levis or even Richardson.
I'd be okay with a 3rd-6th rounder on Ward, Duggan or Haener.
    But just please no Stroud!
(his flaws have already been pointed out here)

Yep. Wish we'd have hired Ballard!
