He's a level-headed, smart player who has a deadly floater and plays hard on defense.

    Love TyTy

My Christmas wish is for TyTy to replace KPJ as PG and for Jaygup to replace Nix, then bench Ego and slot in KPJ as our 3 spot starter.

TyTy is one of the positives out of todays shambolic game.

He brings SO MUCH MORE than Nix in that backup PG role. his floater was on point, he knows when to get people the ball and where, and he is decent defensively. I truly hope he continues to get 15-20 minutes per game this year to develop. It will be interesting to see where he is at by seasons end if he gets that time.

Nix is trash tier (so is Garry Bird), so a pretty low bar to clear. I agree though, TyTy needs to get 15 minutes per game at least.

I will say that at least Garry has had good NBA games where he directly impacted the outcome in a positive way. I had hopes on Nix’s potential given his G-league performance but I can’t think of a single game in which he’s done more than tread water

Oh Nix is absolutely for sure worse than Garry. There is no question about that as all. I am probably a bit over reactionary about Garry and that comes from my main beef about him and Silas. The man is 26 years old and a fringe NBA player at best. He's not worth trading for and he is definitely not part of whatever future Stone has planned. So why are we playing him so much during a taking season? He played 17 minutes this game. He's averaged 13 minutes per for the season. That is an absolute travesty. Yes, Jaygup really **** the bed for us to start the season, but there is actually a snowball's chance in hell that he could turn things around and be useful off the bench.

To be fair to Garry - we don't really have anyone else who can do what he does in terms of catch and shoot in motion, rapidly. If his shot is falling, play him. If not, find something else!
He has a more clearly defined purpose than Christopher (right now). I guess we'll see where Christopher is at by the end of next year, but they have other guys to focus on in the short term...

That's my point though. Garry Bird is not part of the Rockets future. Christopher could still be, so why are we not giving him Garry's minutes to try and define that purpose?

    But is he definitely????

We have 2x first round picks next year, and we have had 7 the last 2 years. Having been a first round pick does not make one a part of the future.

We see the players during games, but coaching staff also see them during practice. Players need to impress, and be able to fill one of the 15 roles on an NBA roster.

I wouldn't say Christopher has proved he is more worthy of a roster spot for 2023 than Mathews. Yes, he is more talented, but not talented enough to demand a spot (yet).

**for sure I would be throwing playing time at Christopher and TyTy post ASB to see what they can show me

Tyty just seems to understand the NBA and what the team needs. I love young players who have a veteran-ness about them. Once his 3pt shot comes around, he's going to command 20 minutes a night.

Please give props to the coaching staff. They are bad at many things, but they also do some good things sometimes. They simply trained Tyty up in the G League, spent a lot of time in practice with him, gradually increased his minutes, handed him the keys to the backup PG spot - all in under 40 games.

Was shocked we were able to get him late in the first round, imo he was the 2nd best PG taken in the entire draft after Ivey. He seems to be exactly the kind of PG a team like ours needs. Well-rounded, good size, intentional with moving the ball, sticks to the game plan, good D (for a rookie) and hopefully good 3pt shot.

Next season Green, Sengun (assuming improved 3pt shot) and Jabari are going to take over the offense. That's a lot of scorers for a starting line up so the two other people we surround them with have to be excellent all-round when they don't have the ball on both sides of the court and one of them has to be good at setting up the scorers. Tyty and Tari are excellent candidates for those 2 spots. KPJ, Christopher, Garuba and KJ are all good candidates for those roles if they develop well between now and then.

Tyty played 20 minutes and had the best point differential on the team (-3). Hopefully, he will get consistent playing time going forward.

He's a secure ball handler who doesn't let the ball stick to him who seems to have a soft touch and looks like should be a competent shooter. Definitely looks like he can play primary ball handler duties for long stretches if the team starts reverting to AAU ball.

He looked like an NBA caliber player last night. I was impressed. I hope he gets more minutes.

Early in the season Nix was shooting ~48% from 3 .... it was hard not to give him minutes at that rate.
Now that his 3 point percentage dropped off the face of the earth, he just doesn't deserve the minutes.

Its a long season .... give it time.
