I think they like the menace of them obviously being murdered while simultaneously pretending it's an accident. They want you to know the Kremlin murdered them, while simultaneously not being able to prove it in a court. Mob tactics.
I strongly agree with this. The Russians are banking on a regime change in the USA in 2024, that will result in less support for the Ukraine or possibly no support. It would be a disaster, but it is very possible that DeSantis (assuming he wins) would cut support and then Putin can exploit it and take Ukraine.
