Here's my offseason: High End Draft Picks 1.01: Will Anderson, Alabama - Edge. Young Von Miller. Transforms the defense. 1.10: Quentin Johnston, TCU - WR Physical attributes of Randy Moss. We need a lot of help at WR... Metchie's return is a start, but we need an electric, alpha playmaker. 2.01: Best Lineman - OL or DL . If Quentin Johnston is off the board at 1.01, then I'd take Jalin Hyatt, WR here. Free Agency 1. QB: Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo 2. TE: Dalton Schultz or Mike Gesicki This team, plus the 2nd year improvements of our young players (Stingley, Kenyon Green, John Metchie, Christian Harris, Pitre, Pearce), and playing in a bad division (AFC South) and against an easy schedule, could give us 6-8 wins and start down the road of establishing a winning culture .
Was thinking Baker might enjoy coming back to Texas as well. If they can surround him with weapons and build out the defense, the formula for Lovie is right there. He did get to a Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as his starting QB.
That team in the AFC South could possibly win 8 or 9 games or possibly win the division! And put us out of the range in 2024 of drafting Williams or Maye, so how do get a franchise QB? THE REASON I DONT LIKE THIS IDEA....is because that plan makes us the new Colts or Titans. Teams with EVERYTHING else, except a QB. And we see how those teams are ending up. Remember, the Colts built up their Off and Def lines, same for the Titans.....DEFENSE AND A RUNNING GAME WITH A RETREAD at QB...That does not work in 2023! You draft a Franchise QB, because he the one who touches the ball the most, who has the greatest impact. A great defensive lineman can be taken out the game, like Brady did when the Texans had JJ Watt with a quick passing game. The Texans are building, if the QB is there.....TAKE HIM.
um, no it hasn’t. Manning still came out. No draft pick can force a trade anymore. Rules are different. If he wants to stay in college? Fine. Risk losing money.
https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2020/01/22/eli-manning-retires-nfl-draft-giants-chargers-flashback/ OK. Eli didn't. I'll have to check Peyton. Both were guided to not sign with a Franchise that didn't give him a chance to succeed like happened with Archie and NO. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...ng-no-1-draft-pick-ryan-leaf-spurned-jim-mora So no, it never amounted to more than a threat. Leaf was also involved in messing with the draft.
is Mayfield better? That backup played pretty well on road yesterday. As a backup he is better than anything on this team. Just think he is a good place holder.
The NFL is different now. Trying to force a trade as a draft pick will not work now. Teams will let you sit and it will cost you money now.
Mayfield SUCKED in Carolina. Sean McVay is working his magic on him right now. I would trust anything you see now.
I don't think anyone disagrees with this sentiment...if a franchise QB is there TAKE HIM...what we disagree on is whether a franchise QB exists in this draft.
what’s your end game with either of those bandaid quarterbacks? To land back in the mediocrity tail spin? Why not bring in Nathaniel Hacket as coach then? I dont mind upgrading our backup qb if we don’t select one in the draft - but I have zero desire to trot out a clearly defined bad retread as a starter with the implicit goal of 7 wins. as frustrating as it is for us fans - it’s better to be awful than mediocre.
Because I think to some people, we can get one of the "more premiere" prospects next year - no matter what.
