Statistics actually point to reported accusations being false only 20 percent of the time. I’m not going to apologize for stating no man should get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to sexual assault or domestic violence. Do you have some who make up allegations? Yes. However, what is FAR more prevalent is an allegation either not being reported for fear of retaliation, or reported and dropped for fear of retaliation and in turn fear for their life. I work in the field. I’ve seen bruised faces, women pressing charges and then pleading for it to be dropped because they think it’s their own fault. I don’t believe any man until an accusation is proven to be false. And the lack of charges means absolutely nothing. And Athletes absolutely deserve ZERO benefit of the doubt. But I guess no one should have believed Ray Rice’s wife if their hadn’t been video is what you are saying.
A lot of people have no idea how much the fear of retaliation comes into play when reporting sexual assault or domestic assault. 20 plus women accused Watson yet many people called them sluts and liars. That happens especially when it involves peoples favorite athlete which in my opinion is what is actually vile.
Thanks for proving my point. An innocent man would not be believed because of your revulsion of the crime. I share your revulsion, but not your predetermined guilt sans investigation. I will not even argue your stats, because they have been true in the past. I'm just personally aware of women saying everything they can during divorce and custody battles and truth is irrelevant to them because it's too important. In one case, the Grandmother took charge and fled with the children because both parents had issues which got in the way of raising children.
My god please stop with the virtue signaling. Nobody here is ok with abuse. Bauer is innocent. As of right now, he is an innocent man with no charges and should be treated as such.
2 things: 1. Having charges dropped and/or not having charges filed doesn’t necessarily equal innocence, unless you count Bill Cosby as innocent as well. That’s a simpleminded, bordering on willfully ignorant take. 2. Thank god Trevor Bauer has brave defenders such as yourself to stand up for his honor on an Astros fan forum. What a tragedy and injustice it would be for us to talk trash about him without you there to be like, “well actually…”. Truly heroic.
am I defending him? Or are you attacking him without cause? He was not charged. She was scamming him. He is a free man with no charges. As of right now, he has all of his rights like you and I do. ridiculous that I have to remind people of this.
You’re right. It is actually ridiculous that you feel the need to defend Trevor Bauer multiple times on an Astros fan forum. I completely agree.
Yes often times others “come forward” to cash in. It happens. Disgusting and appalling, I know. When he is charged, your words will have merit….maybe.
Im not defending him. Im just stating the obvious to a run away train of bloodthirsty virtue signalers.
Again, your take is simpleminded. Bill Cosby and Deshaun Watson are innocent as well, right? According to you. They’re free men with the same rights as you or me. Those dozens of women who accused them were scammers hoping to get paid. Did I do it right?
As a novice on the baseball side of this forum, I don't offer much. However, because I learn from all of the great posters, I'll make a few comments based on what I believe is relevant to next season. - Crane/Asst GMs we're decisive early and resigned a key piece to our bullpen and an upgrade to 1B and our lineup in general. Well done. - According to @Nook we've been in play for all of the big boys, but held the line on not overspending. Pretty hard to argue against this given our sustained success. - While we've all clamored for upgrades at CF and C, so far we haven't signed or traded for anyone. Personally, I'm ok to stay the course internally at CF. Chas is underated, Meyers should be better, and I'm really rooting for Leon to breakout. - Catcher is trickier and whether Lee or Diaz can step up as #2 is a real concern. However, if we start the season with them, we still have option to trade if they don't step up. - LHRP, seems Dusty would like to have one, but several posters have pointed out our guys can get either side out efficiency and effectively. I'm happy where we're at, and very excited for Spring Training this year. Is it a little scary to go without a vet bu catcher or without Verlander? Yeah, but I look at how the young guys stepped up last year and have some hope a new line of youth can do it this year. Maybe that's a naive baseball perspective, but its all I got. Please keep feeding the threads with your wonderful insights, analysis and ideas--it's a true joy to read them and something I look forward to daily.
why are you bringing them up? And why is Watson working again and not Bauer? Its all crazy man. Either you believe in our justice system or you don’t.
i brought them up because your point seems to be: not charged = innocent. It’s not that hard to follow. And I illustrated why your point is wrong and your logic to get there was/is faulty.
