Green has just been absolutely horrendous of late. Saving grace is that he is still attacking pretty aggressively for the most part. Man needs to be sat down in front of his old film from the end of last year and figure out what he's doing wrong. I would start with that mid range from the side he liked taking.
Yes, he's been really bad as of late. It will be ok for the season though, don't worry. It was never going to happen without slumps, so nothing outside the ordinary is happening.
Not making any excuses for the kid, but damn I wish we had an offensive system that got some easy looks at the bucket for perimeter players. I know our PNR is supposed to free them up, but when a team like the Spurs goes all in on stopping the ball handler you've got to have a counter. Guards for the most part made good decisions on passing to roll man for easy buckets, but Spurs pretty much took everything else away (helped that most of the Rockets couldn't hit an outside shot). I know its' not about the wins but the Rockets looked unprepared and unorganized last night. That can't be good for young player development. Oh and Jalen sucked last night... carry on.
Teams are loading up on him right now. He can get to the rim any time he wants, but still is a not strong enough to finish consistently. In regards to shooting, he has a long way to go imo. I just think he needs to get rid of that starting from the left hip move. Hard to imagine he can get to the same release each time with that.
no offensive system will look good when your starting PG is KPJ get a real PG in here with some high BBIQ and the team will look more organized and players’ efficiency will go up
everyone knows their greens freeze in the winter and come back in spring. Spring Green will be a thing. Yule C
I’ve never had such mixed feelings about a player. There’s so many signs of stardom/bust that I can’t tell at this point.
That's where I'm at, he's so up and down it's really hard to judge. I know we should expect that from young players, but man, I wish there were a few more good games and a few less horrible games.
I expect ups and downs from young players, but feel that he is already ahead of schedule (maybe not everyone in the BBS's schedule) in some attributes and quickly picking up how to be an effective scorer. Anytime a team sends hard double teams in an attempt to get the ball out of your hands tells you they see you as a threat. Wish we would have done more of that against Luka...
I know he has his ups and downs but he’s still so young . Let’s just try to be patient … I know I suck at it lol
Hope so. It's disappointing to see that he really hasn't improved much from his lackluster rookie year. Most of his numbers are down from last year except his FGA - which at a lower efficiency isn't good. He's good 1 in 5 games. Simple math tells you he sucks 4 out of 5 games. You can't continue that pace and still continue to take the most shots per game. He's going to need a good 2nd half to get his numbers back up to a somewhat dismal rookie year. And if he doesn't, I think coach needs to have a talk about him not taking so many shots. And if O is his main game well then that's a career killer conversation for him.
Jokic says to build the offense around Sengun Luka says to build around Jalen and that he will be a superstar But, the forum says our rebuild is going horribly wrong. Rockets have a lot of young talent and will be adding another young stud in this draft.
Um... you apparently don't know how to read a stat sheet... lol. Points: Rookie Year - 17 This Year - 21 Assists: Rookie Year - 2.6 This Year - 3.6 Rebounds: Rookie Year - 3.4 This Year - 4.3 Free Throw Attempted: Rookie Year - 3.5 This Year - 6.0 Free Throw %: Rookie Year - .797 This Year - .801 So even though his outside shot is not falling and his efficiency numbers are down, he's been scoring more, assisting more, grabbing more rebounds, getting to the line more, and making more of those shots at the line. How exactly are most of his numbers down. Never mind, I get that the numbers don't support the narrative you were trying to create ... "lackluster rookie year... Most of his numbers are down... sucks 4 out of 5 games... somewhat dismal rookie year..." but please don't let facts stop you, continue on your journey of Jalen sucks.
Jalen is right on the brink of shifting a gear up for the rest of the season. I can sense it. He gets it now, it's simple. When they guard you tight, get to the line. When the paint is congested, kill them with the 3. What's coming is just a bit of nuance. He takes a very polar approach to these things right now, he will either get to the line a lot or he will make his 3's but there have been only a few games where he's done both well. We're going to see more of that in the new year. What's amazing is that it seems rare that a team can stop him from getting to the line when he wants to. For guards, that's a superstar quality. To be getting to the line 6 times a game weighing what he weighs, with his experience level and never flopping is an incredible show of willpower. His body has to get used to taking that kind of punishment because fatigue (especially in the arms/legs) is not good for shooters. The past 3 games Sengun and Tyty have really helped with creating good shots for the team and I think that trend will continue. Gives us more options for creating plays, which is critical for guys like Jabari and Green. They are old school players, they don't want to be the PG, they just want to finish the play. The team we put around them has to respect that and I feel like we're getting there.
I've noticed much more of a pronounced two motion form to his 3s lately, wonder if that is a conscious change to his form. So far this year, I've been pleased at his increased free throw rate and assists per game. Obviously the next step will be for him to increase his efficiency, if he does that he'll be known as one of the better scorers in the game for many years.
