At this point, I cannot disagree with anything you wrote. Really it all comes down to fit. At some point, the team will move on from Coach Silas. I think we should wait until then to judge the front office. Its obvious the team is not trying to win at this point. Once we bring in Coach Udoka, then we can better judge.
This game really was the whole gamut of Sengun experiences. He had a great game a nearly had a triple double. The team made a comeback when they ran through him as an offensive hub for a short period in the third quarter, then they never went back to it. He racked up 7 assists and really showed his chops as a playmaker, combined with 0 turnovers. And on top of that he had an insanely efficient scoring game on nearly 80% TS. And he was a +12 while our other centers were both negatives in their minutes. All this in only 27 minutes, thanks Silas. Despite all that, he got abused on defense. Repeatedly they targeted him in the pick and roll and got easy shots whenever they wanted. Honestly he got abused and it was pretty bad. I'm sure some people's takeaway from this game is that he's unplayable as a starting center because he can basically be played off the floor with his horrible defense. And on top of that, he blew those two layups late in the game that he really should've made. I'm sure some people blame him for the loss because of those two missed bunnies.

Not the first time this season (hello Phoenix) the genius big brain coach has removed Sengun for 'improved defense and rebounding' And than the Rockets fail to secure a defense rebound and give up the offensive board to the opposing big man on a crucial possession. Silas is honestly one idiotic person.
Sengun had his 5 shots relatively earlier in the game, 4/5 and drew a ton of fouls. Usually when you see a stat line like this for a center, where efficiency is good but number of shots is little, it is because they come from easy dunks and cannot be replicated to increase the number of shots. But sengun just posts up and scores. You can easily do this more and it is crazy that he is not used more and the shots go to much less efficient plays. It also takes the player off rhythm. @harold bingo I did not think his defense was horrible when watching the game. If I can, I will watch again focusing on that and would like to hear opinions from other posters and discuss. Maybe there is something I'm missing. One can see what he wants to see. I saw more mistakes from our guards than Sengun. Just to be clear, I don't mean you were concentrated to see sengun's mistakes, I am more questioning myself.
Yet another game and yet another backcourt player dropped 50 on the Rockets and the same old clowns appeared here to entertain us. Is Sengun a good defender? No. Is Sengun a better defender than KPJ and Jalen? Yes. Million times better.
Yeah I mean the whole team is bad on defense, I've mentioned that before. I don't know if I agree that he's better than KPJ and Jalen, but I agree that all three are bad. Other than maybe Tari and Garuba, I don't think anyone on this team is even above average on defense. They're all negative defenders so it can be difficult to assign blame when you've got 5 bad defenders on the floor. But the Mavs were targeting Sengun in the high pick and roll from what I could tell, and it resulted in a great look on pretty much every possession. We got lucky that they didn't make more shots. But watching it reminded me of watching the rockets with Harden, we used to do it all the time. Just targeting centers in high pick and roll and getting the shots you want every single time. Maybe it's unfair to blame him because who can really guard the Luka pick and roll?
Fair and objective take. I don't see how anyone could blame him for the loss though. The Rockets as a team made several silly mistakes near the end of the game while the win was still in reach. Not one of them caused the loss but all contributed (including those two bunnies he missed). The Mavs definitely targeted him and maybe it was just me, but it felt like they came for him after the Rockets made it clear that they felt Sengun in the post against Wood was a match-up in the Rockets favor. Wish we didn't play so many in the rotation tonight because I believe even with him being beat on defense a few times it would have balanced out with more minutes (could be wrong but that's my feeling). Way too many people in the rotation tonight
Yeah dude I definitely don't blame him. He's my favorite player on the team and I think the best thing we could do is give him more minutes. He was getting targeted on defense, and doubled in the post when he got the ball, and still dominated the game. I thought he was our best player and we win that game if he got more minutes plus more usage.
I'm glad somebody besides me mentioned this. It's not Rocket science, he SUCKS on defense and is a huge liability. Teams repeatedly search him out and get easy baskets. The guy couldn't defend himself in court let alone his man
Millions? We just saw a game KPJ shut down Harden last play of the game and Green shut down Booker. Both Rocket WINS. Give me one game Sengun shut down ANYBODY of significance? He's CLEARLY getting targeted play after play but yet he's somehow not our worst defender? Hahaha
