Maybe we should sign him to see if there's anything the A's did that he might want to snitch about. (Sarcasm font)
Reynolds is a really good all-around hitter who is seen as a rising superstar. A switch-hitter, he was shifted on a lot last year when hitting left-handed, and I expect him to have a Tucker-like breakout with the new rules. Of course, it will cost a lot, but the Astros have (or at least had been) checking in on him. I would kick the tires on Carson Kelly to see if the DBacks are willing to trade him for cheap-ish, now that they have Moreno. 2 years of control, has had ups and downs throughout his career as a hitter but at worst would be a solid #2 with a better bat than Maldy.
In a court of law yes. In the realm of public opinion not so much unfortunately. Also MLB says that he is guilty of some form of sexual misconduct I forgot the wording they said. If he's added to a team they're going to be facing lots of backlash we all know what happened here.
I don't understand the Varsho fascination other than he's just a part of the "grass is greener on the other side" way of thinking. He's a slight upgrade over Chas in the field to me and they should probably both be platoon players.
Straight up the D-Backs are not trading either of those guys. They’re rebuilding and those are key pieces of the rebuild.
Okay. Trevor Bauer will not be on the Astros because he serially beats and rapes women. He and Chapman can go join Osuna in Japan.
Varsho was very good defensively in the outfield, he was arguably the best defensive outfielder in 2022. Will he keep it up with the glove? Will his bat stay the same or get better? It’s all in the eye of the beholder. To Toronto he is under team control for 4 seasons, gives them a gold glove type fielder to help their pitchers, and with his bat he only needs to be above average. I think Toronto over paid, but you can make an argument for the trade. Toronto also really wanted to do two things this off season… add a lefty bat and greatly improve their outfield defense. They addressed both issues. Personally I think they are better but should have gotten more for what they gave up.
No. People are CRIMINALLY innocent until proven guilty. When it comes to general society, private businesses and the opinions of individuals; people are viewed as guilty or shady or many different ways. If the MLB or fans or owners believe he is guilty, they have that right. It has ZERO to do with the criminal justice system.
So this thread has once again turned into a discussion about Bauer. Obviously, I am rooting for him (and all other women abusers) to stay out of trouble, be respectful to women and to never repeat those reprehensible actions again. Do I want him on this team? Absolutely not. I was against the Osuna deal when it happened, and not only do I not want Bauer on the Astros, I hope he never plays a single MLB game ever again. As far as "innocent until proven guilty" goes, a lot of people are unfamiliar with the legal system and it shows. All that matters is with regards to getting a criminal conviction. On the civil side, he may very well still be liable (see Deshaun Watson). The burden of proof to convict criminally is astonishingly high. Over 80% of charges do not end in conviction. Does that mean all those women are liars? For sure, some of them are, but no way are every single one of them liars. Playing in MLB is a privilege, and I'd much rather somebody who has worked really hard to climb through the minors, and is a AAA player on the cusp of being called up get the chance than Bauer, Osuna, etc.
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/lead...9,98,91,90,92,99&viz=hide&sort=5&sortDir=desc Thought this was a nice outs above average defensive breakdown for outfielders over the past 2 years. I think people are too quick to want to kick Chas to the curb or overpay for his replacement.
That is an awful way to interact with your fellow man. Seems very unfair and a little evil to assume guilt and require proof of innocence. In the old days that would get you shot. In the days of my youth it would get your ass kicked and no one would criticize me for a moment for kicking it. I implore you to rethink this truly vile position.
