If the PG problems continue to exist for another 1-2 years, I would definitely entertain the idea. However, Green and Smith should remain off-limits in any scenario. We could put together a killer offer without including those two.
Add Scotty Barnes and/or VanVleet to the trade market. Apparently they don't get along. Both Hawks and Raptors players are forcing a trade. Rumor is Gary Trent he is soon to be gone
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...ons-if-hawks-decide-to-deal-star-point-guard/ 5. Houston Rockets If there's one team that knows how to accommodate a high-usage point guard, it's the Rockets. Young could pick up right where James Harden left off for the Rockets, though he'd have to be patient. The only player above 22 to play 400 or more minutes for Houston this season is Eric Gordon. These Rockets are very much still rebuilding. There is not winning infrastructure in place. Young would have to trust it to eventually develop. Considering Houston's deep reserves of draft capital, it likely would. More promisingly, the Rockets have barely any long-term money on the books. The final year of Gordon's contract isn't guaranteed. Houston built non-guarantees into Kevin Porter Jr.'s contract. If the Rockets wanted to use max cap space to find Young a running mate, it would have several opportunities to do so in the next few years. Brooklyn's draft picks would almost certainly be involved in this deal here, but the Rockets would probably have to part with a premium young player like Jalen Green to make a trade of this magnitude. That's a tough pill to swallow, but Green's best-case scenario is something like what Young is now. He'll never be Young's equal as a passer, and he's a significantly better athlete, but you draft someone like Green hoping he can be the primary ball-handler of an elite offense. Young already is one. It's a sacrifice worth making if need be. Young could be the face of the Rockets for a decade.
Me no want . Trae young is like a modern day Kevin Martin. Granted , he’s a better passer and probably a bit better on D . I want to build around 2-way players . Hawks have some of the best talent in the league imo . Murray , capela , onyeka , hunter , griffin , bogdan . if they can ship out Collins and Trae for more 2-way players that can shoot they will be really good . they probably need a bit more creation . I don’t think Trae is particularly amazing in that factor . I haven’t watched too much , but I’m curious how he’s averaging 10 assists despite being in a bad shooting slump . But I think he’s a guy that can thrive in the regular season , but not the playoffs .
Trae has his 'con's. Pros and cons aside, he is less of a mystery box than our current youngsters. So you know what you're buying in getting him. If there is negotiations, Stone should do his due diligence. The athletic report on Trae's shoulder, bench or don't show up, and 'miscommunication' with the coach is likely true. But the later stuff; like quotes from rival GM' opinions are just that. And lot of writers can eat with new topics to write about. Trae's dad recently tweeted that his son is happy at ATL. We can keep an eye, but I wouldn't jump the gun too far too soon.
I don't see too many similarities. Kevin Martin finished a lot of plays, Trae Young is way more of a creator. Young's problems on defense mean you have to surround him with ace defenders. It's doable but obviously a big commitment.
Reading this, it hit me that our own front office doesn’t even build around 2-way players themselves. Roster is full of one-dimensional players with Jalen, KPJ, Sengun, Tate, Garuba, Christopher, Nix, Matthews, etc. None of them are “2-way”. It’s really just Jabari and Eason. That’s pretty pathetic.
you can get away with it at guard ... Curry , harden , and other teams have proven that . I don’t like Trae’s physical upside tho . I think he can be shut down , and at that point he isn’t giving you enough on D or as a team-flow player to make up for that . If teams put physical defenders on Harden and he has trouble , Trae will get destroyed.
He's a chucker ..... dude takes terrible shots. He may be the worst defender at the position in the league. Add to that the toxic team issues .... I don't think you can win with him as your lead dog when its win or go home.
Buy low on Young, even though his asking price will still be high. They all want him out (including his coach) of Atlanta right now. Also he averages 10 assists for someone who "doesn't" pass and we all know he can shoot. His major issue on this team will be terrible defense with Jalen Green. If we can get him for Sengun+KJ or KPJ combination with some BKN pick swaps, I'd take it. I don't see other teams in the league that can make a good offer for him tbh. We should wait and see if we land Wemby or Scoot first tho, if we do then no to the trade.
What a terrible article. These guys are clueless. Why would we want another chucker that plays absolutely zero defense. Trae and Dame are idiotic for anybody trying to build a championship team.
Trae is WAY overrated. Keep adding solid two way players to surround Jalen and Sengun. Impatience on this board is beyond idiotic. We are trying to build a championship contender not a mediocre Portland, Atlanta, NY, etc. etc.
Man I couldn't have said it better myself. Sometimes I think I'm the only one here with desire to win a championship not just be happy with making the playoffs. I think stone is going to completely blow it this summer with overpaying for aging has been vets and trading potential young draft studs in future drafts for more vets to make harden happy. If we don't get wemby we are screwed.
