The biggest red flag should have been the immediate comparisons to SOCCER teams. SOCCER fans are some of the most emotional and unreasonable people out there, they typically have not played a single sport in their life, they eat chips on their couch and play FIFA and think they understand every sport. The level of emotion and anger that comes from these people when their team doesnt win, its not something you see come out of someone that has played any type of organized ball at any level. If you played sports at an organized level, you don't get this emotional because you tend to have a deeper understanding of the game and know why certain things happen. If you ever watch big games (i.e. Super Bowl) with people who don't really watch sports, there are many who tend to somehow have a significant interest in a team, they tend to be way way louder and more emotional than someone who has watched games every Sunday. They tend to be in complete shock over simple things that occur during the game, this is because they don't really understand what is going on, but want to be excited about the big game to look informed. They will seem overly upset for a team they just saw play for the first time all year, and will also admit they are only watching for the commercials when their team loses. The biggest difference between SOCCER fans and most other sports is that people are not going to take things so personally, we all know that Silas is not a good coach, but I doubt most people on this board wish anything negative upon the guy's personal life. Claiming that these SOCCER fans would have abused the coach by now just shows that these people don't really understand sports at a deeper level, to them it is just a daytime TV drama they are getting overly emotional over because they don't really understand what is going on.
Why you mention soccer and then Super Bowl..... But you have a point there, you don't want to be a diehard in futball or soccer. I disagree that they don't understand the game, most of them do understand it and become aggressive.
The very idea of sport is to give your best, regardless of you win or lose. I can see that you have no idea about the mentality of sport and try to insult soccer fans to hide your ignorance. Everyone knows that every year multiple NBA teams tank but no one acts against because most of the current American competitions/leagues are more or less kind of circus, full of clowns/charlatans. If these people do the same thing out of the US, they will certainly be arrested for match-fixing. There was a movie in 70s, likely Gene Hackman was there and 2 people were talking. One of them told to the other one: "We, as family don't mind to lose, grandpa and dad supported 3rd tier team". It is soccer fan mentality, ready to accept to lose but never forgive surrendering. Two famous chant, one from Liverpool :"You will never walk alone" and one from the lower league team Millwall : "No one likes us, we don't care". In Turkey I support a second division team, in the UK a team from 5th division, an amateur one. As long as they are man enough and give their best we will support them. There is no place for cheaters in the society except prisons. You have no clue about sport but very eager to preach. Jaw dropping. A very Dunning-Krueger effect.
And the craziest part is that those soccer players or others in diff sports don't give two cents about those super Mario fanatics
Just because another sport acts like it cares more doesn't exempt them from the entertainment stage show club that they are all in, they play for money,fame etc just like all the rest Entertainment is a form of cheating(scripted), and some of those who have been sent to prison have been falsely accused(cheated out of their freedom)
