I was prepared for that but wasn’t prepared for none of these things no structure, no leadership, lack of defensive effort, useless iso offense, lack of player development except a few. Same old Rockets without much of a progress. let’s accept it’s just worse than a shitstorm.
lol lazy takes and BS excuses... this is all rockets fanbase is capable of...THIS IS AN INSULT TO YOUNG PEOPLE... young people can play great, responsible and smart...AND THEY WOULD HAVE ENJOY IT IN FACT! the very fact that their youngest player is the most disciplined, rational, efficient and the best player on the team is a testimony to that!! it would take me half an hour with random kids on the playground to teach them to play smart basketball... what we lack is leadership and coaching and the willingness...org simply is not interested in winning...this is simply not their priority...its an afterthought only ...a PR stunt...they couldnt care less
We’re tanking, unintentionally by letting Silas continue to run this team. No need to make any changes this year. Let’s start that once Wemby gets here.
sounds like a drug addict self deceit......lets take just this one fix tonight...this will be the last one time...tommorow i am quitting it! hahahah @Ankara1923 @LeDakota @aaquaa @DreamShook @PeterKingX @AroundTheWorld @J.R. @tinman @harold bingo @ExTxGS @conquistador#11 @CHAMPBOY @mirdirir @Joe Rocket @WestendMassive @Salvy @clutchdabear @berkowsk @j@amc @Killatron 2000 @Dovahkiin @ExTxGS @cmoak1982 @bmelo
I think we are doing some things around the edges to give ourselves a better chance at losing... things like giving increased playing time to KPJ, extending looks for fringe players like Nix, Fernando, and Matthews, and resting players with the slightest hint of injury... But I think the main problem is that we do not have much experience (2nd youngest team in the league)... We have some talent, but they are very young. Other teams have talent too, and even lesser talent with more experience is enough to beat us... the most saddening part of our situation is that I don't see a player on the team who can develop into someone capable of leading a deep playoff run. We don't have a player in the category of Luka, Jokic, Lebron, Durant, Ja Morant, Steph Curry, prime Harden.. This is the toughest piece to acquire... and if we don't hit on the 2023 draft, then we may be looking at an extended period of not being very good.
How can you possibly say "no" when the team has done every single thing that would indicate tanking before the season even started? Unbelievable that 55% of the board has said no. Really great case study for politics too, the representatives can be tanking and the followers think it's just stupidity or just requires a few changes to the strategy or to go back to the "pure" way of doing things. Idiocracy in real life.
What did we do pre season to indicate tanking? Not trading Gordon? It also depends on how people define tanking. Deliberate losing is tanking to me. A willingness or apathy to losing as you attempt to grow young players isn’t necessarily tanking to many. I believe we fall into the latter. There is nothing you can do overnight to teach 20 year olds how to score/defend against NBA players with several years under their belt (or superior coaching, Spurs). They don’t know the tricks of the trade, how to get refs respect, what not to fall for against certain players in certain situations. long story short, we are young and we don’t MIND losing. Not necessarily tanking, per se.
I think some folks get tunnel vision. They get overly focused (trees vs forest) on one aspect of the picture and before long, that one thing explains it all. fyi, I voted yes.
Dude no team that's tanking ever has players on the floor who try to lose or a coach who attempts to lose. All the tanking teams have players who do their best and coaches trying to overcome the roster their GM gave them. What we did is enter the season with one or two vets. That's the most obscene tanking Strategy ever.
There is no common understanding of 'tanking'. Clearly we're fueling our rebuild through the draft. How long should we continue our draft centric m.o.? Clearly until we're better than we are now.
but we have legitimate talent we need to play. It’s not like we have the Spurs roster, which I believe has far inferior players (they just have a world-class coach). It’s not tanking to not sign mediocre veterans. The only “tank” move was not trading Wall
We have 4 nice pieces. We got luckier than most teams do in terms of what fell to us in the draft. Alp, Green, Eason, Jabari and even Tate + KPJ are all clearly NBA caliber players each with their star potential (okay, not Tate or Tari — though maybe he turns into a Kawhi-type player). maybe just maybe I’ve fallen in love with what’s in front of us, but I’m not at all concerned from a talent perspective going forward. We just don’t have the discipline (youth) and a rebuild strategy that seems to rely on players being able to make and learn from their mistakes on the court.
Dude do you really believe we're not tanking? Before we get into details, in your heart do you really believe the organization overall is not trying to achieve the maximum number of losses in the final year before we don't own our pick?
I do not think we are intentionally trying to lose. I think we expect to lose. I don’t consider that tanking. If we had signed scrubs to fill roster spots, that would be closer to tanking. I think this organization thinks we can win in the future with or without Wemby/Scoot, and I agree with them.
We are getting stuck in semantics. The Rockets are rebuilding by "maximizing their chances with higher draft picks, cap space, and trade assets (future picks and current high draft picks)." Pretty possible we only keep one of the highest picks from 2021, 2022, and 2023 because we pushed our chips in for a superstar and use our cap space and lesser draft picks to build a deep roster.
People use the word tank way to lightly these days when that word applies to very few teams. Every team that has a losing record or is in the lottery isn’t tanking. There are teams in the league that are simply just that bad or are in a rebuilding state, and that’s the boat the Rockets are in. In order to really tank season you at least have to have a roster that’s competitive and a playoff team like the 2019 Warriors or 1996 Spurs, and the only reasons those teams tank is because one of their best players got injured.
Seriously though, I'm not asking about "We" because there's no we. It's split up. In a tanking season, the GM is doing everything to lose with youngsters getting minutes and the roster is doing everything to win so nothing will apply to both. Can you state: do you think Rafael Stone wants to have a high pick or not? How do you think a guy sitting in an office can achieve that?
The **** are you even talking about? This makes it sound like we're the ****ing Kings or Magic, Houston is not the kind of franchise where you get to say "same old" when they do badly.
