On those first three questions, we do know the answer and it is "sometimes." The problem with this team is they are inconsistent because they are young and inexperienced.

On the last question regarding Tyty I think we'll know soon when Nix is replaced by him in the backup PG spot. I don't think playing Nix this many minutes was 100% decision made by Silas. Stone had to co-sign it.

LOL, go back and rewatch the last six minutes of the game. Sengun was involved in almost every play! But let's not bring up he had a turnover for traveling and he missed two free throws.

The 7/11 overall selections still qualify as ''lottery picks'', but at least you got your coveted 2nd rounder in the mix at 35

 

I started at the 5 minute mark:
-Orl Zone, Sengun gets a pass free throw line when KPJ picks up dribble too early. No one cuts, Jabari cuts to clear, and gets a pass on the wing. Sengun reposts low block, great position, Smith dribbles into ugly contested midrange, miss,

-KPJ dribbles into the zone, ignores Sengun's screen, takes a horrible, no ball movement fading left layup. Sengun taps in the miss. 102-100 Orl

-Off Orl miss, KPJ pushes to green on the baseline, green passes Sengun at free throw, Green goes backdoor, Sengun's pass tipped. Stays Hou ball. KPJ turnover inbounds trying to get the ball late to Sengun on a seal under the basket.

-Off miss Free Throw, KPJ pass to unexpecting KMJ across court, turnover.

-After timeout, set play, KPJ to Sengun in the lane, monster poster dunk for Sengun 105-102 Orl

-Pass to Sengun freethrow line, no cutters, no movement, Sengun tries to go one-on-one, travels. 107-102 Orl

-Jalen calls for a screen top of the zone from Sengun, steps into wing 3 and misses. No movement. Sengun/Jabari fight and draw foul. Hou ball
110-102 Orl

-KPJ and 1 3 point off inbound, 110-106 Orl

-KPJ tries to drive, almost turnover, kick to Smith. Ugly drive, ugly entry pass to a flashing low Sengun. Draws foul. Misses 2 free throws. 112-106 ORL

-EG to Jabari, Jabari loses it out of bounds, turnover

-Sengun rebound, up to KPJ hitting tough righty layup in transition. 112-108 ORL

-Jalen goes hot sauce trying to dribble through the zone by himself, kicks to KPJ who fakes the corner pass to Jabari to shoot and miss a 3. 114-108 ORL

-KPJ tries to dribble solo into the zone, turnover. Game basically over but KPJ dunks it at buzzer.

So his turnover and 2 missed free throws, yet he still created the best and sometimes only looks in the zone. Young players make mistakes we all know that. Coaching doesn't put the players in a position to make and then learn from those mistakes. The ball should have gone into his hands every possession he was in against the zone.

 

I wasn't knocking Sengun, just pointing out that there's plenty of blame to go around. And the notion that Sengun wasn't utilized in an attempt to break the zone defense was not true. That's just on the offensive end. On the defensive end, no one on the Rockets could get a stop and the Magic got to the free-throw line. Sengun is not a true center and I think the better position for him is PF because he's not a rim protector. It's on Stone to satisfy the team's need for a defensive center.

 

We didn’t break the zone because our team has no concept of cutting within the system outside of set plays. So sengun getting the ball on the team isn’t much of an advantage as a Bruno simply because the passing and playmaking talent isn’t utilized with guys just standing around.

sengun is a center. If he can’t play center then yes, he’ll be limited to a bench role because he will not be guarding 4s in the league. But he’ll add weight and be fine at center. Just needs to find a team that has ball movement in the system. Hopefully that’s Houston next year.
