just a little reminder that getting the best pick possible is not the goal of basketball...

btw it means nothing where you pick its who you pick game...

the warriors created the best basketball dynasty ever out of picks 7, 11 and 35

that and they also get together after games and work on shooting 35 footers early in the shotclock and turning it over by dribbling of ones foot...

    @Os Trigonum

Wanting Silas gone after 2 seasons is no longer a knee-jerk reaction.

I really hope the organization has moved on from this thinking. Silas is a nice guy, not a good head coach. He's had multiple seasons with Sengun Green KPJ KMJ and Gordon, yet even when those guys are on the court the offense is stagnant for multiple possessions and basic reads aren't made. Its either every player on this team is so low iq they can't run a basic offense, or our coaching staff has done a terrible job of getting this team ready to play.

Since Calvin Murphy never faced a zone, I wouldn't trust his evaluation. Dribbling in from the outside is the most difficult approach you can take.

In a classic sense, you make a zone chase the ball by using cutters that flash into the empty areas for simple shots. If they have two guys at the top, you build a diamond up there for them to chase and pass to the open guy. An open free-throw line jumper is easy for anyone to make. Teams that really know how to beat a zone get the shot they want rather than forcing up attempts.

If you've got one guy (like Jabari Smith or even KPJ) that likes the ball in the corner, all the player movement should set things up to get him on his spot and you keep things moving until you get the open look you want. We can't do any of that.

Multiple seasons? This is only year 2. They are still building team chemistry. Silas is telling them what to do to win games, but the players have to execute. He can't reduce playing time because there are few other options on the roster. With another coach, we would more than likely be in the same position. The quality of the roster has to improve.

You believe the cohesiveness of the main young core, and the offensive system are right where they should be with his tenure as head coach?

Edited to add: Also, Silas has set the team back significantly with progress. If a new head coach were to come in at the new season, he'd have a year of figuring out what KPJ is outside of a PG, is he a build around guy? Is he a great role player? How will he respond to tough coaching? How will he respond to benching in a game for a hot hand? Can he differ to a hot hand in the 4th? We don't know any of this because of Silas.

Can green takeover the 4th? Can he iso when needed but also can he score or make the right playmaking decision down the stretch? We dont know, cause of Silas.

Can Sengun lower his TOs or at least improve if an offense is run through him? Dont know.

Can Jabari hit off ball screen 3s at a decent enough clip to use that in combination with his post game to turn him into a klay/rip type of offensive player? Not sure, Silas hasn't allowed us to see this .

Can Tyty be the backup pg? not sure.

A new coach is going to take a season to see all the things we should be seeing now.

Of course not, I just disagree with putting the blame for that completely on Silas. The quality of the roster matters a great deal. The players we have aren't good enough but hopefully, we'll see them progress. Jalen Green and KPJ had good games last night but have been inconsistent throughout the season. Jabari Smith Jr has been disappointing. I don't think it's as simple as we need a new coach and everything will be alright. There are still questions about the talent level of Jalen and Jabari - the two cornerstones of the franchise. If we had a better roster and were still losing like this then I'd agree with firing Silas. I just think we need to see more data (i.e. one more season) before we decide to move on from him.

THe information I edited in my last post to add is my point about Silas' fault. No one thinks this team should be winning, but the progression and some major questions are supposed to be answered this season, and they aren't because of coaching.

A competent new coach would be able to figure it out in 20 games. Please bring him in after the all-star break and let him experiment. Only issue is we might win too much for the Wemby sweepstakes. I think Silas stays since Stone is all in on the tank.
