Can someone, anyone please inform me what it takes to get fired from being the head coach of the Houston Rockets??? 35-151 not enough??? 20 losses in a row not enough??? breaking the Spurs 11 game losing streak via a butt wooping and then getting our butts kicked again at home by that same awful team not enough??? 1-16 start last season not enough??? playing Daisaun Nix significant minutes over multiple NBA caliber players not enough??? what’s it going to take???
Oh, I forgot to add that he couldn’t hold a 16 point second half lead to superstar Orlando due to not making any adjustments to a simple zone defense that was copied right out of Rick Carlisle’s book.
Problem with that is Silas isn’t trying to lose. Ownership may be happy, but we’re stuck with this goofball again next year. As long as he starts Gordon, he’s trying to win.
Yeah, agree that Silas isn’t trying to lose. I’m not even sure the GM wants a bad coach but that’s the only thing that makes sense to me
It’s gotten to the sad point where I am rooting against us because by winning a game or two out of every ten, it just means we’ll be dealing with this in year four of his terror reign over having quality basketball in Houston.
If you enjoy bad turnovers, no adjustments, poor free throw shooting, occasional effort, and Daisaun Nix then Silas is your guy!!!
Sadly, that seems to be a fact. Would love to see him turn into a good coach, but things like playing Nix more than any other sub makes me realize that his 35-151 record isn’t just a run of bad luck.
I can’t even go in game threads any more because of this ****. We looked like a junior high team against that zone tonight. No adjustments or coaching and a bunch of turnovers - unfortunately we’re stuck w coach smile until his contract is up because Tilly won’t pay two head coaches
I said in the preseason that Silas would need to win 30 games this season to retain his job. A couple days later Stone and Silas had a dual press conference in which Stone said, it's not about wins....it's about needing to see progress. I thought to myself, oh, you sly dogs.....you are giving Silas a lot of room for error. Embrace the suck. Wembanyama mania. We are currently par for the course.
I get it. You want to tank, you want to get that no 1 draft pick, but at what cost? there must be a way to tank AND get the players make progress as a team and individuals.
no need for top picks... our best player is pick no 16 not the pick no 2 or no 3....draft order is irrelevent...all the drafted players have plenty of talent and potential...
One of the first thing you lean in management courses is "average quality" i.e. there is a corelation between things in a hotel/management/franchises/ even whole nation. Something can not be superb when something is disgusting. There is average quality (or non-quality).. After reading some posts here and observing TC audience, I started to believe that Tilman-Stone-Silas-KPJ are not the only villains in the town. Fanbase and media also lacks something. Silas has no idea about zone defense, he was as ignorant as spoiled NCAA products againt Magic. KPJ still do "techs" and no one throwing a rotten tomato to him, no media questioning Silas during the press conference. JGreen was scoring 21 and Alpi had 22 at previous night, so the logic commands you to carry on with them but idiocy reigns in Houston. And no response from the fans. If there was a better crowd at TC, they would boo KPJ and management when he did "tech", would chant "TyTy,TyTy" to force the idiots to play him Bad management, bad press, bad fanbase. No surprise 3 years at the dead bottom. No chance till the whole system change the mentality.Poor losers.
I believe the hire of Sam Cassell turns the whole organization around. He a winner everywhere he has been as a player and coach. The owner would like him because he is a mark for the championship team from the 90’s. Sam seems to be everything we need and we are one of 30 spots where he can be a head coach. Tillman could be a hero for giving him his first head coaching job and save a ton of money because it’s his first HC job. The PR would be through the roof. Maybe change back to the old logo and make some money off the merchandise sales, too. I truly believe Sam could clean this up quickly even as a mid season hire. Maybe not wins but playing with heart, passion, pace and fundamentals.
