And as we are seeing it will become a ridiculously convoluted response to try to micromanage from the outside what a private forum can and cannot decide belongs there. We might as well tell clutch that when someone spams the GARM that Matt Maloney was the greatest Rocket EVA!! And anyone who disagrees is a loser!! That that poster should be allowed to but someone who says the same thing about Vassilis Spanoulis shouldn’t.

Yes because the FBI pressing Twitter led to Biden getting 7 million more votes than Trump.

Just to note Trump also got more votes in 2020 than in 2016 so the FBI must’ve cheated to get that too.

Speaking for myself yes I do fully believe the DOJ and DOD did pressure Twitter and also that Twitter responded. The US government engaging in propoaganda and psy ops is nothing new. It’s the classic scene in Casablanca “wait there is gambling going on here!”

What I don’t find convincing at all is that it was enough to sway the election. And note I don’t believe that Russian misinformation in 2016 was enough ti away the election.

The most likely explanation for the last election isn’t deep state MSM manipulation, voting machines or whatever the latest excuse is from the right. Trump was a bad president and a bad person. That even so many that voted for him qualify it with that they don’t like him as a person or for that matter that so many Right leaning posters here say they didn’t vote for him shows that the election shouldn’t even been as close as it was.

you probably missed where I agreed to your original point

then you probably missed the point where I offered my explanation of why I personally am not worked up over Musk's recent censoring actions:

then you attempted to put an argument in my mouth that I wasn't making:
the key words identifying the straw man here are "Free Speech Absolutist" by which I take it you mean me, and the evaluative/normative phrase "it's fine to let" which I take to be the argument I'm not actually making but that you would like to beat me up about

So, Elon puts up a poll asking if he should step down, the twitterverse says step down and he is going to actually do it? You buy a company for $44B and then you put up a poll to see if you should step down.......that's a bad precedent to set, is everything going to be based on a poll? Thats like our CEO putting up a poll to ask if he should step down, it's just well.......dumb. I think Elon is a smart dude but this twitter buy might be his downfall, hand it off and go back to making kick ass spacecraft

The full report, linked to in the end, is worth reading. Very easy to miss.

Let's not forget that... all this twitter BS and ATW/tinman/space ghost/OS trig elon ck sking doesn't affect your life. No matter what you believe, none of you have the power to change anything.

Plenty of things for all of you to do in the REAL WORLD. Your paycheck should still be the same after Elon bought a cesspool of a website.

Go out and spend time with your family during the holidays. Make memories with people that matter. ok thanks.

both of those statements can be true.

private companies should be allowed to operate in a manner that they see fit as long as they dont have unlimited power and there is some accountability.

    what is wrong with that?

i see far more hypocrisy coming from right wingers and trumpers who want to make the actions of a private company a first amendment/free speech issue and elon saying he is a "free speech absolutist" then banning people who say things he doesnt like.

That's fair. We very easily could have had the same result. It is also fair to define their participation as election interference. And that would be a big deal if the actors were reversed.

You say the FBI cheated to get Biden elected. That's apparently based on "collaboration" between the FBI and Twitter.

1- FBI works with the private sector all the time. This might be new knowledge to you, but it's not new. Specifically, the FBI started a workgroup to work closely with social media after the Russian interference to the 2016 election.

2- The FBI was led by a director appointed by Trump. There is simply no reasonable logical or sensible reason for him to "cheat" for Biden.

3- The Twitter File on Hunter showed Twitter employee doing their best to figure out how to handle it. There is no smoking gun here. This is closer to a nothing burger than anything. The best (bad thing) you can get out of this is yes, Twitter employees are biased toward one side.

4- Musk released these files to a few media members. A number of issues here from a professional media and transparency standpoint. a) it's clear by now that Musk is quite partisan (to the right in case there is any confusion lol), b) the media member he released to is biased - he has been writing without much evidence that the gov and Twitter worked together to suppress the Hunter Biden story. What you see is selective release and commentary biased toward the viewpoint of Musk and the selected media member.

So, to answer your question, no, not ignoring or assuming falseness. My response was based on the above (and a few more I don't care to list).

Now, since you concluded that the FBI cheated on Biden, what are your reasons and evidence? Be specific.

Simply, they knew the laptop was legit and swept it under the proverbial media rug. It helped. I am not saying it swung the election but the 2020 evidence is much clearer than whatever scheme Hilary or russia cooked up in 2016.

I know a lot of people whole Snowden as a hero, and I'm glad he exposed the spying. I think Snowden is both - a hero and a traitor for going beyond just exposing the gov spying on its own citizen. After the leak from Snowden and news article, the gov didn't deny it. They acknowledged it and passed new laws and regulations to protect citizen privacy.

What Musk has selectively released come no close to what Snowden leaked. The gov has no power to force Twitter or any social media to censor anything. All they can do is ask them. Again, if Musk doesn't like this partnership (colluding if you want), he should shut it all down now.
