No, it totally matters because if Harden opts out his only options are teams with cap space.

You're totally ignoring what Harden wants and just saying "if Harden wants to". Yes I understand what you're saying, if Giannis or Jokic or Doncic suddenly became dead set on coming to Houston then he would come when his contract expires or he opts out.

But Harden is not opting out, especially given the unlikelihood that he will make that kind of money on a winning team in the open market. He is certainly not opting out to win LESS with the Rockets. Look at his recent movements.

So we need Philadelphia to trade him to us, and we don't have anything they'd need.

If you're saying Harden can legally opt out and legally sign with us, yes you're right just like you can win the lottery - it's legally possible but obscenely unlikely.

Are u not aware that the Rockets are a team with cap space? Therefore, whatever Philly wants is totally irrelevant.

Harden is opting out in order to secure a longer term deal whether that’s with Philly or somewhere else. What sense does it make for Harden to not opt out unless he suffers some devastating injury this year or is orchestrating a CP3 to Houston type maneuver to a different team that doesn’t have the space to sign him outright next offseason?

we absolutely don’t need Philly to trade him to us, that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever when he can simply opt out and we’d have the space to sign him

Philadelphia trading him to Houston makes even less sense because we don't have players to match salary and I'll be damn if Rockets give up any draft compensation for an aging star.

Houston not being able to acquire Harden in the offseason unless Philly wants to trade him to us just doesn’t make any sense to begin with when he can simply opt out and sign with a team that has cap space like the Rockets…people are talking like Philly has Harden under a Team Option or something and can prevent him from leaving and signing somewhere else in the offseason

Would Sengun become Capela or Embiid with Harden??? Without a silky jumper like Embiid or the above the rim game like Cap how would he mesh with the mother of all ISO players who isnt trying to feed the post??

    ROH ROH Shaggy!

Edit: And if Harden is a REAL possibility why get rid of Silas?? Double ROH ROH!!

He clearly would massively upgrade this team, but the issues are 1) he's in the midst of a clear decline and 2) how much money would he want. We are much more than a late career James Harden away from contention. If we feel we have a contending team and need a good distributor PG for a year then sure. But we just aren't close enough yet, IMO, to match the timeline he needs.

Salaries don't match. Throw in Gordon and Nix. Morey loves Rockets legends.

    Harden
    Green
    Wemby
    Jabari
    Sengun

Not a lot of defense but that'd be a tough team to stop.

I’d rather stick it out and get scoot if we can’t land wemby.Scoot looks to be an elite PG.Check out his highlights if you haven’t.

That is something I can agree with.

Harden is more like a big brother that shows the young guys how to spend their singles on strippers.

He has never been the guy that consistently mentored someone.
