Jalen Green after yesterday’s game said the last few games the players have had a general lack of energy. Can someone please explain how a roster of 20 year olds don’t come out with fire and energy on a nightly basis???
It means that JGreen himself is tired. Selective perception. I did not see lack of energy in TyTy, Sengun, Tari, KJM, Garuba, Bruno. I have seen lack of effort in JGreen, KPJ, Egordon.
There is no excuse for guys not being ready to play, the starters are too comfortable and might do well coming off the bench for a game or two … or a full line change 3 minutes in if they play like last night.
Not full line just the slackers. Then when asked, say why so everyone can hear. Treat children like children. Be the coach not their friend.
It’s called accountability. These guys don’t have to offer much of it to the current coaching staff. It’s time to stop babying them when they play like that.
This is the first time watching basketball for you guys? Every team has games where they come out not giving a **** They are just bad. Theres no deeper problem
players are not stupid...they know the tank is on even if not told explicitly...when your boss wants you to lose games eventho he says in media he wants you to win, you cant help but subconsciously help the man paying you the salary...
a player who refuses to pass to open teammates is not simply a bad player... this is a mortal sin in basketball...it is a deeper problem indeed.... when that happens in my game i just walk away or take another ball and start a shooting practice on my own on the same court.... cant expect people to come out with energy when they know they wont get the ball, and/or the minutes, and their boss wants them to lose in order to bring more talented guys to replace them...LOL this is the hidden blessings of tanking that people dont expect when rooting for the tank
These scrubs are getting more shots up then they would on any other team Find me one other team that is giving nix consistent minutes
That's on the coach. He isn't keeping players engaged. His substitution patterns should reflect who has the energy they need. The play calling doesn't match their talents and as a young player trying to respect their coach they show their disapproval by loafing. Plus losing takes a lot from you
KPJ and Green can’t handle 37 minutes a night. But there’s nowhere to turn if Nix and Matthews are your primary reserves. the. Answer is easy: play bigger. Less 3 guards, more forwards. Martin, Eason, Smith, and Sengun with Green. I love the idea of giving Smith the chance to play against guards. Bring in kpj off the bench to give Green a rest. At least try it once, Coach Silas. The current mix is generating embarrassing losses. We should be scrambling to find anything and every idea should be on the table.
This is honestly Silas' biggest problem. He's just not a leader. I get the feeling he's just never lead effectively in his life. He's a nice guy but you have to be tough sometimes as a leader, especially when you're talking about 20 yr olds. It doesn't matter if you have the best plays in the world, if you can't motivate anyone to run them and play hard.
smilas should really be team psychiatrist or something. bring back milkhair or hire someone tough from outside, like DD or Swoley's D
Silas has his orders. Would like to see the development of the backcourt but that would go against the orders from the upper management because it would produce wins. Silas is in a odd position if he plays Washington the tank is more than obvious (keeping Porter as the starter) and if he doesn’t it’s obvious, too (FRP not getting playing time on a historically bad team). Nix makes Porter look better because Nix’s play is below league level. Washington not so much shows lots of promising talent. What’s going to happen now? Porter has to step away from the lead guard responsibilities. Porter’s newly found lackluster attitude is not a surprise because he is being challenged vs entitled.
