We have hyped him as being a lottery pick. Would be controversial for sure but we have set the precedent.

    Interesting point.
    1) To my knowledge, the NBA hasn't ever stepped in for this reason.
    2) Which opens the door for clubs to test the limits. Someone will eventually. But until then, we don't know where exactly the line in the sand is.
Especially this year, it wouldn't surprise me if someone over does it (tanking) and gets spanked.
    3) I for one don't have a clue what form of punishment would follow such an intervention.

Oh there's Mark Cuban getting fined $600k for even talking about it openly (which is worth it for Wemby) and then there's Sam Hinkie who is gone from the NBA for tanking too much. The league just doesn't want it to be obvious that's all.

another huge assumption here is a higher pick equals to a better player...
    NOT TRUE...NOT SCIENTIFIC...

this is soooo like 19th century thinking...

you may getter better players with lower/later picks even with the second rounders... and much of how players turns out is dependent on environment hes developing in....

all the drafted players are almost equally talented...nobody of them has better basketball genes... theres no such thing as basketball genes in fact...

people thinking picking higher is better should be fired before silas!!

its like thinking the taller the player the better...lololololololol

I don't think there's a chance we start Garry and Nix to be honest.

Having said that, I think KPJ and Gordon are our worst starters so I'm not certain we'll lose significantly more games with Nix and Garry if KPJ is still coming off the bench and Gordon is replaced with Tate. Maybe we'll lose a game or two more. The momentum of the core trio will be too strong and believe it or not KPJ will improve too.

I don't think people really understand what it means to have 7 draft picks in 2 years and most of them are at or above expectations. That's rare in NBA history and it's going to create an unexpected pattern.

you also forgot one tiny little detail here, and its so characteristic of fans of tanking:
    6 months of REAL BASKETBALL

pro tank fans dont really like real basketball or even sports in general....they are bad losers...
they just want to win win win... anything less then that and theyll stop playing alltogether...THIS IS NOT REAL SPORTS...

and don't tell me tanking is still basketball... its not..its a glorified scrimmage...its like the fake t***...its just a plastic balls put in t*** place, and its not the real thing...i guess some people are able to enjoy it but they are definitely delusional in calling it t***....

As a tanker, I think we are less annoying than the SOFs.

Games like tonight's vs the spurs are super key. 101-100 SAS

I think they already know how to win. They just haven't figured out consistency.
I agree, our players are good enough, but they lack experience and lose focus too many times.

Part of it, is the team construction. But that is a different topic.
Part of it may be the coaching. That is a different topic also.

I get the whole "losing culture argument". But I am not seeing that in Houston. Not on the Rockets I mean (Texans, cough, vomit).
These guys come out with intensity and energy. Despite not winning much, they don't walk around or act like a bunch of losers. That, I agree needs to be guarded against.

The thing they need most, they are getting.
    Experience.

After watching this game, it’s much easier to embrace the tank. I’m there. But the tank must yield a new coach in addition to the draft pick.

I don't think there's an actual lottery. It's difficult to convince me it's not rigged. There's no way the NBA wants Wemby in Houston.

Honestly I'm not sure I'd want him anyway after the horror of the Yao injury saga.

I don't agree that it is rigged but would the nba prefer his destination to be Detroit, Orlando, Sacramento, Charlotte, or Orlando? I would think we would be the ideal spot outside of NY, LA, Chi, or SF.

Everyone can win games in the NBA, it is not lopsided with the whole lottery pick system for bad teams.

The lack of energy level is really worrying me, it's like when Paul Silas passed away they played for Silas and then they got back to their old routine.

I see where you coming from, but the NBA is a biz/$$/ratings driven league looking for the next young exciting core team to hitch their wagon to since the faces are getting long in the tooth like Bron - Curry - KD etc

The next crop is Giannis - Luka - AD but their teams are not getting Wemby so its going to come down to the bottom 4-5

I could see maybe Charlotte getting Wemby so maybe Curry may go home and play his final few years which would be good for the NBA and the Jordan storyline owning that team and pairing him with Ball

Jazz are out and Orlando and Detroit just got the number ones recently, so the best scenario for Wemby is going to be one of the Texas teams if I were a betting man with Hornets being right there

Both Texas teams have history of being connected with drafting big men 1st overall, so the history repeats itself storyline is already lined up for the NBA to promote

I get the media hates the Rockets, but a trio of Green - Smith - Wemby will make them switch up like they usually do anyway

I always look at the standings - specially with the 4-6 teams fighting for top picks in draft

You will be amazed that they all stay pretty tight,

    Pistons 8 wins
    Hornets 8 wins
    Rockets 9 wins
    Spurs 9 wins

these are the teams I expect the Rockets to stay on par with - not so much

    OKC 12 wins
    Lakers 13 wins

I would be pissed if we finished with more wins than the Lakers because you know Wemby going to LA
