I think people forget how mediocre pena was at batting during the season. Had some rookie slumps

Do you expect him to be a rookie again?

I personally believe Penas success in the 2 hole was a fluke of timing and not directly correlated.

Regardless, the results at that spot were overwhelming so they aren't gonna screw with it to start the season.

I understand that but at the same time to do the right/lefty lineup stuff Pena would fit the best. You want Yordan in the 3-hole or cleanup spot?

Given the market I guess Crane was pressured to go ahead and sign him earlier than he intended.

No. When the season ends, we will have had Brantley for 5 years, but the key is, we were NEVER tied to him more than 2 years. (2yr, 2yr, 1yr). Consistent with Crane's modus operandi.
Would love to see him get his career AVG above 300 with a healthy season sans-shift, and also, whether it's this year, or several years from now, I hope his final ever MLB game is him in full health, and not ending because of injury. Deepens the lineup, and given how he's already signed I am highly confident the Astros feel good about his health.

I'm personally happy to run our current roster out there opening day.

Love Yuli, but bringing him back is emotion over logic IMO. Let Hensley have shot.

Need to add a SP and depth on the bench.

Is there room on the bench for Yuli? Let’s assume we have Abreu, Altuve, Peña, Bregs, Yordan, Chaz, Tucker and Maldy as our starting defense, with Brantley at DH. That’s 9. Jake Meyers is your 4th OF. Backup C gets you to 11. The backup IF spot goes to Hensley or Yuli. Any chance we carry 13 hitters in regular season?

if we go 6 man rotation, hard to see it

Considering Gallo got 11 mil and is hot flaming garbage. This is a good solid deal for the Astros

You have to carry 13 hitters. Its 26 now.

    bench is:
    Dubon (no options)
    Backup c (lee or diaz)
    Hensley
    Meyers

No room for Yuli unless we block hensley or run out dubon as the only CF and RF backup.

I’d like to know what a cleared medical means. Range of motion tested? Do they do a CT scan? They certainly arent asking him to swing a bat.

Let Hensley develop. Sorry, but no time to be sentimental and let that affect team building. If you want him back in the dugout, create another coaching position (or a FO position that's allowed to be in the dugout - perhaps a "clubhouse liason?").
If we make add another position player to the MLB roster, maybe Tucker Barhnart for 1 year or a James McCann trade (provided NYM eats most of the $$$), but I'd rather honestly roll with Lee.

No, Conforto wants the type of deal Verlander got last year. A strict player option on year two for the same amount as year one.
