Musk offered him $5K to take it down, and he countered with $50K. That's extortion?

I am not a fan of this kid, but that doesn't sound like extortion at all.

Curious why this got her banned and why Musk is demanding she delete this tweet. Don't see how it's doxing him

Musk should be put in jail. He is a menace to society

It’s really not. Sweeney clearly doesn’t consider this to be a threat against Musk, as no one else whose personal jet he’s tracking seems to be complaining about it.

If Musk is going to insist that Sweeney’s account is responsible for his car being stalked, and he’s using that as justification for the suspension, he should provide some evidence. Is he claiming that someone identified his car using this flight tracker, and then tailed it for more than a day before being found out (tracker apparently didn’t show a landing flight within 24 hours of the incident).

Also, again, if an account is suspended under this policy, the offending tweet needs to be made public within a reasonable period of time.

Trust requires transparency. Musk had made a lot of promises in this area, but hasn’t yet delivered.

Rather have all his assets taken from him and distributed to the most pressing needs for society. All shares he has of spacex and Tesla be owned by tax layers so we can fund proper infrastructure in space and an electrified charging network based on the needs of society rather than the whims of a publicly traded company or a singular narcissist edgelord.

If be fine if he lives some mundane middle class lifestyles the rest of his life. We'll leave him alone then.

I don't think he's going to keep those promises at all or ever deliver. Trust doesn't matter. If Twitter loses all credibility and becomes a right wing cess pool, he'll still be fine. I think he's getting money to do what he is doing, otherwise he wouldn't have done it. Someone is paying up a pretty penny.

Not only that most of Twitters traffic is not political, it's other stuff and that will still generate ad revenue. So I think all in all, Twitter will be as profitable or more in fact.

I wish there was a more explicit way I can declare my interests. I’d really like to see less political stuff in my feed. I suppose it’s my fault for responding on occasion to the political threads that show up. Need to branch out on who I’m following.

"8. Some have assured me it gives exact coordinates down to the airport gate. In fact all it shows is "Musk's jet has left [e.g.] LAX" and then "Musk's jet has landed at [e.g.] Newark Airport after 5 hours of flight." AFAIK it doesn't track flights in progress."

I thought about this but was too lazy to find out (it's probably likely that one of the journalists that were suspended already reported on this - we never know now since those tweets were removed).

She is right. I just went to (9) Elon Musk's Jet | Facebook. The last two updates were 2 hours ago (landed near Doha, QA) and 8 hours ago (took off from London, GB). So much for realtime.

Meanwhile, as I said before, actual realtime flight trackers are still up on Twitter.

Yup. And again, Elon's obsession with censoring this kid has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with him posting estimated jet fuel burned and carbon emissions per flight with each tweet.

You may get that. Who knows. I just create different accounts for each interest to keep things clean. My politics account feed is dominated by misinformation and right wing anger but everything else is fine.

I think Twitter will become more hospitable to the right. However how many people on the right will join Twitter in the next few years? Truth Social is less than 2 million. In the US Twitter is still 75 million, the majority being Democrats by a wide margin I'd imagine. Yet the content and messaging is so tilted to the right you have to wonder what is going on. Bot cleanup? Hardly - it seems to be getting worse, not better.

I think Democrats will slowly leak away from Twitter. But internationally is the key question. Twitter is in many countries the primary source of news. In those countries Twitter represents a big opportunity to work with state gov'ts and that should keep Twitter profitable.

Nah. More just like a typical narcissist: insecure at heart, thin-skinned, and (given enough mind-warping attention) a tad paranoid.
    Familiar phenotype these days!

Unfortunately, been there and we saw what happen to the US when one of those narcissistic toddlers gain major political power. Like it or not, social media is an integral part of our modern society. It has the power to shape information and debates. Twitter is a huge player in that field. While we hope that the "free market" will work itself out, and it will eventually, there is a lag and a price to be paid. The price, at best, is some silly entertainment.
