I think it's more likely that he's bought out at the deadline than he is traded.

So apparently this guy at the game said Gordon refused to go back in the game.

He really didn't seem to want to play today at all. At this point addition by subtraction.

Honestly, if this is true, a huge + for Houston if they make the right decision. Silas should be gone by end of the year if you have young guys and vets having these moments.

I hate to break it to you guys but there is no big trade coming for Gordon. He is effectively an expiring contract in a time when those aren’t particularly valuable because the cap floor will soon rise…additionally, most teams who want him would prefer to keep their assets and catch him on the buyout market where we KNOW he will eventually be. He makes too much money to make trading him a simple transaction because we would inevitably have to take back bad money for the privilege of trading a guy who we could just as cheaply buyout.

It’s not an “if” - it’s just a when. If true that he didn’t want to sub in, I think Houston takes that to Gordon’s agent and asks what is it worth for then to cut him now and see if they can save a few mill on paying EGo the final dollars on his contract.in the form of giving Gordon less money than he has left to agree to renounce his contract terms.

Not sure how much I believe this .... gonna have to wait and see if he's playing in the next game(s) or not.

Either way, he should never have played a single minute for the Rockets this season.
He should have been traded or given the John Wall treatment - go home and collect your checks.

Those 29.6 minutes per game he's devoured this season would have been better served going to young players.

That would be a fireable offense. Most national outlets consider Gordon one of the more desirable assets available at the deadline. If Stone were unable to convert him into even a second round pick, then he is not a viable GM.

I was behind the bench as well, though not close enough to hear any exchanges. What I can say is that around the halfway point of the 4th, Gordon walked over to the entryway closest to the bench and hung out with Bruno (who was on the stationary bike). The look on his face was “Whatever - I’m over this ****.”

I think we missed our window to trade him. I wish the management of this team understood that sunk costs don’t come back and had gotten whatever was offered last year.

…people want the player on their team - they don’t want the contract associated to it because he isn’t a $20mil/yr player for any team in this league…he’s useful but no one has a $20/mil player who they would rather swap out for Gordon that makes sense for Houston too.

I don’t doubt there are a lot of trade offers, but I think the issue is every offer costs Houston something to unload Gordon - in most cases I’m sure it’s taking on an even longer contract for a player who probably is injured often. The only way those trades make sense is if Houston gets good draft capital out of it, but the only teams who want/need Gordon are contenders with limited draft capital anyway.

At the end of the year?? This is crazy. He should have gone at the end of year one. He should be out tomorrow. He looks like an amateur coach. Everyday he continues in charge of this team is a shame not only for the team, and the city of Houston, but for the NBA as a competition and for the entire profession. He's the worst coach EVER. And anybody watching these unwatchable antibasketball games knows this is true

They will never get a first for Gordon cause hes old and really cant hang. Look at harden he is starting to get into Gordon mode, cant even suit up for the sixers anymore lol. He is worth a expiring contract like crowder and picks. Just not getting first because all he can do is spot up 3's. Kj martin is not even getting respect around the league worth of a first. So if you look around the league rockets should just do the bucks/Suns/Hou trade that was mention because Gordon and Martin dont fit, and Eason makes way more sence.

I'm afraid the sun has set on any worthwhile EG deal. Don't really want to add another aging vet (like Fournier) to shed him. If we can find a way to package him with either Tate or KMJ and MIL 2023 1st to get a better pick next year or even in 2024/25 that would be a win. Just not sure Stone can make it happen.

Gordon proved he can play, and at one time in his career before the injuries he was compared to D Wade. He has my respects I'm not mad at him for refusing to play. Kenyon Martin jr hasn't proved he can be a good NBA player and hasn't done anything to be that player to demand a trade or get starting minutes. I hope that spoiled brat gets traded.

If EG refused to play then it confirms the team still has a big coaching/leadership problem.

I’ve said it so many times on here. Eric Gordon serves NO PURPOSE AT ALL for this team. He’s not a positive presence, he’s not a mentor, there have been several games where he barely gives any effort whatsoever. His ass needs to be gone for anything, or nothing, and Kenyon Martin needs to start right now. The organization has handled this situation so poorly it’s hard to quantify.
