Instead of tweets, cite direct sources with direct paragraphs. Then beyond that show the FBI budget distribution that makes this claim accurate

They are real-time trackers of any specific flight. I read that some of it was just a screenshot, but whatever. Rushed rules are not going to be well thought out, applied properly in their initial phase, and understood. You don't have to buy it - to the reader, it can provide credibility to the story.

Real-time flight location doesn't say when and where it lands. Someone would have to figure that out. That someone wouldn't have access to the landing area and would have to stalk out from a distance, waiting for the plane to land and somehow determine the right vehicle to start stalking. That someone is not going to depend on "Elon's Jet" account but will have to use their own methods.

I mostly ignore it. It's like an intern begging for attention.

FBI don't chase child sex predators and terrorists? This is one tweet I don't have to even think about taking at face value.

The resources spent on censoring social media are not spent on the things they should be spent on.

this was money incredibly well-spent and my heart fills with pride thinking about the hard-working public servant(s) who put all their energy into deliberating about this one

Election integrity is probably a more important issue for those of us who actually vote in US elections. Misinformation that goes viral is extremely frustrating. When it relates to extremely consequential elections, even more so. Twitter, which produces a product that by design enables unchecked information to go viral, whose business relies on this “feature”, is responsible and should be held accountable. They are not a neutral party.

It’s not the FBI’s place to tell Twitter what to do. However, the government should track efforts to subvert elections by malicious actors online.

Taibbi inserting his (wrong) opinion into this report doesn’t help lend it any legitimacy.

That the FBI flagged that tweet doesn’t mean they couldn’t determine if it was a joke.

Edit: My bad, he was quoting someone else.

    "Misinformation"
    "Election integrity"

People having a different opinion on the right measures to be taken against Covid does not justify government-initiated censorship.

    Patently false.

There are thousands of agents doing investigations across many different areas.

The GOP’s weird obsession with children and sex crimes is telling. Why do the GOP states have the lowest age of consent?

And why does the GOP evade conversation about massive child sex abuse in American religious institutions?

I’m talking about clear-cut misinformation relating to the election. A different opinion on COVID measures that possibly go against the grain of what most scientists publicly advocate shouldn’t be censored. OTOH, if Twitter chooses not to allow highly contentious tweets that can impact public safety to go viral on its platform (advertising the tweet on its trending list), I have no objection.

It is arrogance for any person composing such a tweet to think they have some right for their tweet to go viral.

The context of all of this Twitter “censorship” is misinformation involving hostile foreign governments and a pandemic.

You're a nice guy, but you never understood the concept of free speech. We have been over this before.

I’m startled by the amnesia over what happened in 2016:

    https://www.politico.com/amp/story/2019/06/05/study-russia-cybersecurity-twitter-1353543

The extensiveness of these efforts were well documented.

Like, we can acknowledge that threat is real, while simultaneously acknowledging the threat posed by ceding too much control to the government deep state apparatus over how we communicate online. Balance is what I’m calling for, and that means we shouldn’t be minimizing either concern.

I definitely don't think the FBI should get a free pass and transparency is needed. That said I want to know the kinds of misinformation being flagged.

It should be noted that certain types of election misinformation is (and has been for decades) a federal crime. So spreading of such information on social media would definitely be under the FBI's purview. That's why it's important to know what exactly is this misinformation.

I get this person probably is joking. But the FBI can't assume that anymore then when someone makes a joke about a bomb at an airport. If you're someone who counts ballots you can't make jokes about committing a federal crime. Doesn't matter if you're a liberal or conservative.

FBI directing Twitter to "preserve subscriber information" of accounts they don't like.
