Puerto Rican residents / entities are US taxpayers. Puerto Rico pays more in income tax than the 6 states below[/url
I think they should be allowed to choose. I hope they choose statehood so their residents can be treated like any other American.
I would like it. Love boricuas. The chicas are beautiful. Also, they should make chupacabra their official state animal then.
I'll say what I said in the last Puerto Rico thread. I don't want them in the US as a territory anymore. Be a state or be independent. They can choose either so far as I'm concerned. But I don't want status quo to continue (even if they want it).
They should get to decide what they want to be. I'm fine with whatever they choose. State, territory, or independence
DC can't be a state as it stands. There would have to be a carved out Federal Distict. Now that can be done, but it that carved out section would have to be a totally non-residential area. I BELIEVE the areas right around the Capitol are non-residential. I could be wrong about that though.
statehood would relegate the nation's capital to a two-square-mile "federal enclave" surrounding the National Mall and various federal government buildings, while the remainder of the city would become the state of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth.
