So if Twitter is putting out a product that is negatively impacting the integrity of US elections at a massive scale, it shouldn't take any steps whatsoever to address that? Maybe there's a creative step that can be taken that doesn't involve centralized content moderation. For instance, a tweet is automatically tagged with a clarification/correction from a user response that gets a sufficient number of likes. I think I've seen this sort of thing from time to time lately. Not sure if that's a new thing with Twitter 2.0 or not, but I like it.

Marketplace of ideas. What is the basis in fact of your assertion? Twitter is just a platform.

I’m against censorship but the craziness of republicans is becoming a threat to our country.

I'm not sure "Twitter is putting out a product." Twitter is merely hosting other peoples' cranking out of views, opinion, reporting, etc. I can go to the library and check out The Anarchist's Cookbook, Mein Kampf, and a dozen other "offending" books that may influence me to vote one way or another. I'm not sure the FBI should be advising libraries on what books they should or should not circulate to the general public. I don't see how Twitter is all that different in principle.

When you say "just a platform", I think you're suggesting its impact is neutral. That isn't at all the case. Check out The Social Dilemma. Read some of the stuff from Jonathan Haidt.

Twitter is a for-profit company that is selling subscriptions to its addicted users and the engagement of Twitter addicts to advertisers. I think that's a pretty significant difference.

Taking all of the partisan funboy crap out of it:

Don't we all agree that during certain national security situations a certain level of censorship is acceptable?

There has been foreign and domestic propaganda allowed forever, as I know it, and it has been completely shut down at other times.

Where do elections fit in all this? Thoughts and plots to overthrow an election? Public safety messaging? Where's the line?

that doesn't really change my view. Plus I don't think Twitter influences nearly the number of people you think it does.

absolutely not. National emergencies are when authoritarians abuse their power the most. I absolutely would not want the Trump Misinformation Police monitoring and controlling the media.
