I don't think the point is comparing KPJ and MCW as players. MCW is just an example of a player not getting better since their rookie season. Another clear example is Ben Simmons.

KPJ is not better than two years ago. In fact, his numbers has gone down this season compared to last season. His Ast% is down. His TO% is up. His TS% is down. His 3pt% is down. His PPG is up only because he is playing more minutes and is shooting more, but with the same low efficiency as he has been doing all his career. People who say he is still learning and will surely improve have no evidence to base on other than their wishful thinking.

If that's what YOU saw and if that's what I saw, why is it that everyone else didn't see the same thing?

I thought KPJ played well last night and the turnover he made in the 4th did not result in points, so why all of the complaints?

Why does it matter which one is better? What matters is "natural progression" does not always apply, and certainly is NOT "basketball 101".

Everything is in the play by play of a box score. Confirmation bias can be a cruel mistress! ;)

Because he played a good, efficient scoring game which happens like once in 2 months and he had yet another horrible game as a primary playmaker.

I think people fail to realize that from all of our players last yr and this yr, the only consistent player has been KPJ.

Green and Sengun has been up and down, Jabari is new, Gordon has been in and out of the lineup. Same for Bruno. So out all the players on the roster the one constant has been KPJ.

And yet again, his role has changed. When he first came to Houston, he was a SF/SG. He went to the Vipers and they transitioned him to a PG. So last yr and partially the previous yr, he was the primary PG, however yr he's sharing the PG duties with Jalen, so his role has changed again. Am I correct?

And basically, what I am saying is you get better when you KNOW your role and the players who you play with. The more continuity the better....at 18/5/5, I'm willing to give him time.

I think we all agree on he's been the most consistent player on this team. He's consistently bad.

Because he played a good, efficient scoring game.

If you're a POSITIVE thinker, your sentence should have ended there. He is 22yrs old and LEARNING a new position with new players.

You just said previously he played a GOOD AND EFFICIENT GAME, now he's consistently bad.

You all should stop with that "new position" bullsh*t already. It's already his 3rd year with 0 development. I'm not saying he's a bad player, i'm saying he's not a point guard or playmaker and he will never be one.

Garuba has never ever played at center in his life until he arrived in Houston. I don't see anyone talking about his adaptation to his "new position".

I said "he played a good and efficient scoring game which happens like once in 2 months" if you think playing an efficient scoring game once in 2 months is not an exception, sure i'm wrong.

If folks won’t consider the statistics (5.5 assists to 4 turnovers in 35 min), then the only way to settle KPJ point guard debate is to see how the team performs with a different (competent) point guard/combo guard. I think we have one in TyTy, but we won’t know if he doesn’t get on the court…in the NBA, not the G-league ;)

I predict that if we play KPJ off the ball more he’ll score more efficiently, play better defense, and turn the ball over a lot less. All things that would help the team.

If you think "nobody has a problem with it" when they do this with Smith and Green you have your head in the sand. These types of posts get mocked constantly, regardless of the player being mentioned. It is not KPJ specific.

In other words, no improvement from last year to this year. What happened to "natural progression"?

As others have pointed out numerous times, he's been consistently below average in efficiency and Ast/To ratio. Any reason why I should expect any difference?

No they don't maybe that's another board doing it, but it does not happen here, just look at the Smith thread.

Where’s the 120+ page thread complaining about them?

Huh? Re-read my post, that's not what I said. Jiggly said that nobody has a problem with these stupid obscure "first player under 21 to score 217 points, 46 assists, 21 blocks, 18 3 pointers made in a 7 day stretch" type of posts when they're about other players. I'm saying that these types of posts are regularly mocked on this board, regardless of who they're about. I never said there was an equal/similar amount of complaints about other players.

If Bari or Jalen end up being the same player on their 4th year as they are now, i'm pretty sure there will be more than 120+ pages for them.

LOL comparing rookies and sophomores who have shown dramatic improvement to a 4th year vet who has shown marginal improvement over years and was inexplicably and irresponsibly given the keys to the offense. How smart!
