I was actually surprised this AM when I looked at the box score and saw all the misses - i didn't notice them real time. I guess it doesn't seem as noticable when you're up double digit most of the time
He took like 3 shots in the fourth to star pad as the game was already decided by that point. And he was still efficient which is the main thing.
I'm not familiar with the "Howdy Partners" but his comments about putting a "real point guard" next to Jalen is noise I feel like I'm hearing more outside the Clutchfans bubble. Whatever my misgivings are with the pairing, KPJ and Jalen seem to enjoy playing together and hopefully this noise doesn't impact that.
Can someone tell me when it's ok to be concerned about his shooting? His 3 point shooting is just bad this year. Russ level.
I doubt Russ ever had a 2 months stretch of averaging 8 attempts a game on 40% shooting which is what Green did after the all-star break. Better shooters than Green have had worse stretches. It's not a concern until it's months. It's just a couple of weeks now.
I have 38% over 24 games. I have no idea if Russ ever did a 38% 24 game stretch - I just know that Green's shooting nights have been unacceptably bad for a future star recently. 2-13 in his last 2 games is Russ stuff.
Even Curry has had cold stretches from 3 and he is the so called greatest 3/pure shooter all time Not saying Green is Curry, but he is a lot closer to him than Russ on natural shooting ability .... just going thru a rough patch, and if he that guy then he will shake it off sooner than later We shall see
I think it’s fair to a point … but it also seems that when young players work heavily on one part of their game, other parts suffer. He has clearly been focused on driving and finishing or getting fouled. That is probably top of mind during practice and even during games, and probably a bit tiring as well. Even slightly dead legs will affect 3P%. His FT shooting is still very good, and over time that correlates well with shooting ability. See, for example, Russ. I don’t expect him to ever be a deadeye shooter, but I think he’ll settle at 37-39 over time.
Fake worries if you ask me. It's clear to me that Jalen for his career will be a great shooter. Not just good, but great. Quote me on it. The key question is: does it make sense that his 3pt shooting is dipping? What are the reasons? I think if you combine a slight frame trying to go to the basket all the time with an offseason of trying to put on as much muscle as possible AND starting the season off against the most difficult schedule in the NBA... you'll understand that there should absolutely be a dip in his 3pt efficiency. He should be down overall, but what we're seeing is that he's elevating his free throw rate so that he keeps producing even when his shot is not falling. 21st in the NBA in FTA's (and better than that for a month now). Getting more assists too. Teams will pack the paint more and more for him and we'll see his 3pt shot stabilize. How many players do you know who can drain 3's and get to the FT line a lot? That's not a skill many 21 year olds master. The top 10 players in FTA shoot a maximum of 36.5% from 3pt range. Mastering these two things simultaneously is no small feat. He would be WAAAY ahead of schedule if he were already doing this now. I think it might take till after the ASB which would still be ahead of schedule by my estimation. He's a very specific kind of SG (focuses on attacking and defending, not much of a rebounder or high volume assist man, prefers playing with a PG). More in the Kobe and MJ style so getting to the line is very important for him. That's always weapon #1 for a star SG in the playoffs. You have to be able to attack the heart of the basket, everything else is a counter move to the other team's defense. One thing I don't like is his defense has not been consistent at all recently. Hope to see that improve soon.
Personally, I’m a bit worried about his shot. I don’t like his form. Seems like it has started even further left of his center then it was end of last season. If you start left you are having to correct it at some point to line it up which will effect consistency. Really hope he dedicates an off-season to fixing this flaw. In regards to driving etc, we’ll that’s just special when he’s finishing.
The first few games of the season his form seemed tighter and quicker, especially when he would catch it off the hand off and immediately rise up on the wing. Now it seems a little looser and more exaggerated at times. I'm not too worried long term, I think he'll eventually be a 35%+ guy, but I think he'll have to make some adjustments and that may not happen until next year.
Yes I've noticed this also. I hope Lucas doesn't **** up his form because it was smooth and quick and the beginning of the season.
Remember that time when analysts and fans said that Corey Brewer might have the most extensive scoring package in the NBA?
