Add Moises Alou and Springer to the outfield.

Craig Biggio was great for a long time, but there’s no way Jose Altuve isn’t at 2B.

Altuve eclipsed Biggio at some point. Biggio never won MVP. Biggio never won two World Series.

    Alan Ashby should be catcher.
    Altuve should be 2nd.
Can't argue with any others unless you want to say Berkman is an outfielder in which case he might get close to overtaking Wynn I guess.

JR Richard is only 8th in all time franchise pitcher WAR. Berkman is 5th in batter WAR... ahead of Wynn. If utility spot, Biggio belongs there, but Altuve has surpassed him as a 2B.

As much as I love Altuve, Biggio was the first Astro in the Hall of Fame and deserves 2B until Jose gets there.

    LF Berkman
    CF Cedeno
    RF Puhl

    3B Bregman
    SS Correa
    2B Altuve
    1B Bagwell
    C Wynn

    SP Ryan
    SP Verlander
    SP Oswalt
    SP Richard
    SP Niekro

    RP Smith
    RP Wagner
    RP Lidge
    RP Sambito
    RP Pressly

The problem with Springer is he was both RF and CF for us. In center he certainly can't surpass probably the gifted baseball player to ever step on the field for the Astros, Cesar Cedeno.

God I hate leaving Jose Cruz off but by a hair I give the nod to Sir Lancelot.

Biggio at second is easily arguable, but the 2 championships and the MVP is too much to overcome, even if he's only 2/3 of the way to where Biggio ended up.

Verlander gets in over Dierker because his essentially 3 full seasons worth of work was as elite as it gets, and then there's the 2 championships he was instrumental in helping us win.

Yeah, just go ahead and make Jimmy Wynn play catcher, how hard can it be.

I have a problem ignoring the seasons because of performance in the post season. Most of Astros history has ended in the regular season. Sure, use it as a tie breaker. But not the primary component of the rankings.

    C - Biggio
    1B - Bagwell
    2B - Altuve
    3B - Bregman
    SS - Correa
    RF - Wynn
    CF - Cedeno
    LF - Cruz
    DH - Bregman

Thats basically the starters based on WAR. Biggio leads WAR at C & 2B, so I don't mind listing him at C.

We seem to have a really good franchise tradition with strong second basemen...
    • Joe Morgan
    • Billy Doran
    • Craig Biggio
    • Jeff Kent
    • Kaz Matsui
    • Jose Altuve
