Game planning coach? Dusty is on record as having essentially nothing to do with pitching changes. It seems like a game planning coach would cut into his duties. Also, shouldn’t that be what a manager and bench coach does?
They’ve got him as a figure head and locker room ego manager guy with occasional food delivery mixed in now?

Now this is something I could get behind.

If the team signed a veteran lefty who could spell one of them vs RH pitching then that would likely improve their overall numbers.

But Benintendi ( or Conforto) would want everyday playing time.

Maybe Brantley would sign on for 300PA or maybe its a guy like Brandon Belt?

Sit Jake and Chas 150 PA each vs RHP but not all RHP or else they risk settling into career platoon players.

    150PA is 30% of 500.

    LF:Yordan 60%, Chas 40%
    CF: Meyers 70%, Chas 30%
    DH: Brantley 60%, Yordan 40%

All of Brantley's starts would be vs RHP
All Chas and Meyers off days would be vs RHP.

I would assume he's just there to add on any obscure analytics, trends etc, OR maybe he takes a baseball bat to the opponenets TOR starter, a little Kerrigan action.....(NY accent) "ya know, game planning"

looks like this dude is a data guy. So maybe this guy is gonna do lineups and Dusty tweaks it based on his gut feel.

Honestly I love this. My worry was that Dusty was too old school feel and a crane would allow that to start driving decisions. This signals that isn’t the case, and that Dusty is ok with it.

Dusty is on a one year deal. I’m guessing he only returns past next year if we repeat as champs, or maybe if we go back to the WS.

Anybody remember what Rodon's slugging percentage was against us?

    Oh wait he's a pitcher.

If Montas rounds back into form, Yankees have a nice rotation if healthy.

This is a big signing for the Yankees -- they have a very nice rotation with Cole, Rodon, Cortes, and Severino. This makes them significantly better. It's possible that Cortes and Rodon regress, however. Their lineup still isn't great.

Yankees got better this off-season. Let's sign Benintendi if only to keep him away from them (ok I kid, but it would be a bonus to take a former-Yankee). Also, people forget that the Yankees had a lot of injuries going into the playoffs and will have LeMahieu and others back. If they stay healthy next year (big if), they will present a real threat to the Astros. Can't sit idle -- the Astros need to keep improving!
