They will catch people sooner or later. Hence, best to go about one's life as usual. Need to build natural immunity.

"and pose no risk to others (2)" -- that's not what the referenced source says, if you actually read it.

It says: "At the current time, children do not appear to be super spreaders."

A "super spreader" is defined as: "an individual who is highly contagious and capable of transmitting a communicable disease to an unusually large number of uninfected individuals."

There was nothing “preposterous “ about the statement; and yes, the long-term health of children is much much better the more they are exposed to germs throughout childhood

"Exposed" does not mean you don't take polite precautions like washing your hands and putting something over your nose and mouth if you are or think you are compromised.

Intentionally spreading germs is irresponsible as ****. Can't believe this is even a discussion we're having.

you could put kids in bubble wrap to keep them from getting cuts and bruises. Have at it if that’s how you roll

Do you work on a farm? Because that's one hell of a strawman you've got there.

I typically would agree with this, but the risks of long covid might mitigate some of these benefits. Fortunately, there are indications that long covid symptoms are less common for infected children than for adults. Still more to be learned here.

Long COVID may be less common in children | NHLBI, NIH

We could have saved the world from germs if we just got all the children to roll around in smallpox.

don't understand the anger, but if venting at complete strangers on the internet somehow soothes you, I'm glad you have an outlet

That has been common sense and common courtesy forever. If you or your child are sick, stay home. So you/your child get better and so you don't give it to others. This is not any different for Covid. (Matter of fact, that's the situation we are in right now, 6 year old has Covid, so I will probably have it again soon as well.)

There is a difference between not intentionally spreading germs and viruses when you are sick (we should all be able to agree on that one) and thinking one can shield oneself or one's children from germs and viruses through masking or keeping them home - one cannot.

Has nothing to do with (forced) masking.

And also doesn't invalidate it being true that it is necessary for children to be exposed to germs and viruses in order to build up natural immunity.

That’s your response to be called out for a straw man, deflect the attack back?

If idiots want to go with “natural immunity” that’s their prerogative.

I just think health insurance companies should be able to deny paying for your care. Don’t get vaccinated, your choice but you are paying out of pocket for any care related to that decision.

I think once you make these “natural immunity” folks accountable financially, you’ll see a change.

Not that it's your business, but my infant daughter recently spent a week in the ICU and nearly died due to RSV.

So you and the CEO of Sickbook spouting this germ accelerationist nonsense does strike a very unfunny tone with me right now.

The bumps and bruises of everyday living are one thing, but knowingly exposing other people to illness and disease is not OK.
