He absolutely has running capability like Allen. And we will see how tall he is. He’s 6’3 or 6’4, that’s prototypical height
1.1 Bryce Young (Even though I’m not on board) 1.12 Michael Mayer 2.32 Jalin Hyatt I know our defense sucks but hey if we go QB, give him all the weapons possible. If his guy John Metchie returns, even better. That’s three weapons. Defense or IOL won’t the remaining picks. Oh and make sure Lovie and the entire coaching staff is GONE
Who cares about Prototype Height. Most NFL QB Bust are "prototypical height". I could list bust from the last 40+ years that fall into that category. A smart evaluator of talent said : "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane". Another said: "Never fall in love with Physical over Production".
If that’s the case then why wasn’t Timmy Chang, BJ Symmons, Graham Harrell, Anthony Gordon and a bunch of others in the league? Production isn’t all that matters. In fact, there’s a reason the scouting combine is important. You have to have the physical capabilities along with position dependent skills and production.
Being 6'3'' doesn't mean being successful. Young has production in the toughest conference in CFB. Elite Production. The QBs you listed, don't. I could list Prototypical QBs that failed in the NFL, but I would typing a small novel.
He has elite production with the best college coach ever and elite talent around him. There’s numerous guys with elite production that didn’t make it in the league. And y’all need to stop with this stupid rhetoric about more small QBs being more successful than typical sized QBs percentage wise. That’s not how stats work. By that logic, there’s a lot more successful QBs that are 6’3 and up than there are 6’ and below
Sorry but when I see Will Levis I see Carson Wentz, warts and all. You can't go hoping for another Josh Allen anyway because the odds are just so against it. Allen was an uber athlete that had a cannon arm but was very scattershot. They tweaked his throwing mechanics after he got to the nfl and it worked wonders as we have all seen his meteoric improvement. But it's an EXTREME OUTLIER you can't count on to happen (like buying lotto tickets as a retirement strategy). Hurts was not just a scrub early in the nfl. He wasn't great but made steady improvement. What really helped him was getting with Lincoln Riley at OU who put him in an offense and showed him how to play to his strengths and gave him confidence. I give him all the credit in the world though as he has exceeded what I thought his ceiling was in philly.
Hurts was a scrub his first two seasons. Allen was better than him in his first two seasons. Hurts is a far bigger outlier than Allen, due to lesser physical ability and draft status.
If we decide not to go with Young at 1-1 then I wouldn't be opposed to taking a flyer on A. Richardson if he falls to 2-1. He's just a tick under Lamar Jackson imo as an athlete and I think there's a chance he has a chance to impove his touch and accuracy with time and experience. If I went with him at 2-1 I would just trade a late rounder with 1-32 and get the extra year on him though. On Max Duggan, I watch a lot of TCU and I just don't see "extreme" athlete. Not saying he can't make it but I wouldn't use any more than a late 3rd on him. Or Cameron Ward. I REALLY wish Pennix had stayed in the draft though!
Duggan was a track athlete, a very good one. He’s probably faster than Richardson. Not as big or strong of an arm. And no, Richardson is no where close to Lamar as an athlete. He’s more similar to Fields
https://www.catscoverage.com/post/ranking-will-levis-best-5-games-as-a-wildcat And here are some games against elite defenses for Levis. I’m not even saying I want him, but it’s funny he gets the bust/non athlete label and Young gets comps to Kyler. Levis is a better athlete than Young. Young is more polished as a QB
https://www.ffastronauts.com/amp/tcu-s-3-headed-monster Duggan SPARQ scores as a highschool recruit were elite. There’s no disputing it. He’s a low 4.5 and possible high 4.4 guy if training for it. 4.10 shuttle is running back numbers. And that’s as a 19 year old. Before he’s matured.
Guess we'll have to disagree on "scrub". But REALLY disagree on Hurts being a bigger outlier than Allen. Hurts went from being an average (or below average in your opinion) QB to being a top 10-15 quarterback. That's great all in all, but Allen has gone from being a top 15-30 QB to being a top 2 or 3 QB in all football! Much easier to get from average/below average to good than it is to get from average (great athlete with minus accuracy) to the absolute best in the L! imo
That’s fair. I’m speaking more in terms of draft position and overall talent. Allen had it, just had to be unlocked. Hurts while a good athlete didn’t have the natural arm talent Allen had. Hurts has came a lot further imo.
Also, Levis has a 4.10 shuttle and 36” vert coming out of high school at 224 lbs. 4.6/4.7 top end. Similar to Allen
Yeah I'm not disputing it. Just saying that when I watch him it doesn't seem to standout. I'm probably just spending too much time focusing on Quentin Johnston! (one of my binkies)
