Very happy for Correa. Easily my favorite Astro when he was on the team. However I hope the Giants enjoy that contract during Correa's last 5 years if he's able to make it onto the field with his back.

I'll certainly be cheering for him in year 2035 when he's trying to leg out a grounder playing against the Astros in Minute Maid.

Another 2017 player getting big money, @#$# MLB. Happy for Correa, I hope he retires as an Astros. I'm sure the Yankees rather have Correa than Judge, one is a big time post-season player and one is a post-season flopper. I don't think Judge will have a better season than 2022, watch the media grill him for 2023. The only winner is Correa and Juan Soto, the next mega contract.

    Not worse than
    Lindor 10/$341M
    Tatis 14/$340M
    Seager 10/$325M
    Turner 11/$300M
    Bogaerts 11/$280M

And those are just the top SS deals the last 2 years. Good for Correa as he deserved to be compensated as one of the best SS in the game.

Okay so where are the people who said that Correa made a mistake last year? Laughing at him for taking a low Twins offer? Lol

    Correa made the right call.

    **Scott Boras**
If I'm his client I listen to Boras. He'll get you the best route to get you paid and last year that move was genius.

Correa has had some wonderful moments in his career and has put up some very good seasons, but in my estimation, he's just slightly below the caliber of player that commands a contract like this. The Giants are taking a massive risk. Oh, and Scott Boras is the best agent in the game.

What kills me is how many contracts extended for players into their 40s. In the history of the sport, how many superstars even made it to year 40? It doesn't happen often for non pitchers.

Bonilla's $1 mil per year for x amount of years after he left baseball is nothing compared to $20 to $40 mil for a few years if they're broken down. I wonder how much insurance will cover these contracts, especially if one of them is completely injured with 5+ years left on it? No way that player would retire leaving money on the table. He'd ride it out.

One of the worst I stated. Carlos is good but very overrated. Paying a guy 350m who probably won’t drive in 100 or hit atleast 30 bombs is insane imo. Glad the Stros didn’t do it

Careful. Some fanboys on here will think you are ancient with that way of thinking? It's all about WAR and ODJFJFJ% now

And they'd be right. It's one of the many reasons why you were so incredibly wrong on Correa's value and what kind of contract he could get.

The goal of these contracts is not to have these players be good into their 40's - when y'all judge the contract by pointing to how they'll be overpaid the last several years, you miss the entire point. They are getting paid market value now ($40MM-$50MM/yr) while spreading out the cost towards the future. It also gives the team a free option to keep them if they happen to stay good and save some money if the player just decides to retire for whatever reason. That's what made the Astros' contract offer so incredibly insulting - they wanted to pay him market-value (or even less) for his prime years and nothing for his post-prime years.

Lol, Correa knows more about advanced metrics and how value is calculated moreso than a lot of the fans here who think they know.

He could be a future GM easily. In fact I do expect the next generation of GM’s to be former players… especially since they realize that’s where the real power is, not simply managing.

“LOL at fanboyz who prefer WAR to RBI!1! And here’s some funny letters I strung together because math scares me. I don’t know what I’m trying to say, but thankfully that guy who’s only skill is stealing everyone else’s content will applaud!”

I don’t think anybody said he made a mistake. Especially few if any would have laughed at him. But I do think Correa being overlooked last year, and getting low balled, made a lot of folks make a double take.

Obviously Correa needed to prove he was healthy for more than just one year. And he stayed relatively healthy this season.

I don’t know of any Astros fans who don’t like Carlos Correa, and everyone I know is so happy for Correa…. He’s a good dude, and he provided wonderful memories for us all.

I really don't understand how any of our fans wouldn't be happy for him
