I never said he's the next Hasheem Thabeet. I said he's slightly better Hasheem Thabeet and i stand by it.
So why are we bringing up stats that Luka and Sengun had to compare a player to a slightly better version of Hasheem freaking Thabeet?
Because you think he's one of a kind prospect and it's the end of the world if the Rockets can't get him. He's nothing special, if anything he's the proof of how effective marketing and PR can be.
Yes I think he is a one of a kind prospect. That still has NOTHING to do with you calling him a slightly better Hasheem Thabeet while bringing up Luka and Sengun international stats. It would be like bringing up Lebron James college stats when trying to explain how useful of a player Daishen Nix is on the Rockets. No I do not think it's the end of the world if we don't get him. In fact I have stated multiple times that it's highly unlikely we get him even as a bottom seed. You're just randomly assuming crap There was a lot of hype around Chet last year and I had him as a Andre Kirilenko type prospect. So, no, I'm fully capable of having my own opinion I watched Wembys highlights about 2 years ago which got me intrigued to watch his games which got me to learn more about him as a prospect. Something tells me you're the kind of guy who thinks Hardens style of play was everything wrong with the NBA but believes Luka plays the right way.
I was a big critic of Harden. Luka is a slower version of prime athlete Harden. So to me he's one of the most boring superstars to watch. Crafty. But electric? No.
I'm not randomly assuming crap. You repeatedly said he's the biggest prospect since Lebron and i proved you wrong by comparing him to Luka with actual FACTS. So he's not a bigger prospect than Luka was and Luka was 3rd overall pick. Currently he's as big of a prospect as Sengun is if he can stay healthy which is quite unlikely. Anything more than that you assume he is, nothing but marketing illusion. Have a nice day.
So Sengun is also a slightly better Hasheem in your eyes. Got it. Thinking he is the world's best prospect since Lebron has absolutely nothing to do with thinking the world is going to end if Rockets don't get him. You're assuming crap. Yeah, I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you're definitely a troll.
He's a better prospect than Luka was and lol...yes, than Sengun. The past 10 years the 'generational' guys have been...Anthony Davis...Zion...Wiggins...Wemby. Luka was never known as a generational prospect, that's why he didn't go #1 and in fact was traded on draft night even. He had a lot of question marks coming into the league. This not a knock on Luka at all though, just what scouts seemed to think of him at the time. Prospect is only applying to their career before they play a minute in the NBA though, but those guys that were named were all generational guys. Zion was probably the most hyped of them all and he's now just showing his worth (because he's healthy) but Wemby is certainly a generational prospect. Can still be a bust. Greg Oden was the next Bill Russel after all, but being a bust doesn't mean he wasn't a generational prospect that teams were waiting for years to draft and Wiggins has been a bust until only recently showing he's actually an all-star level player...but not an MVP level player.
As i already said twice before, Luka has won the MVP in the league that Wemby got clowned at the very same age. If you didn't know Doncic was a generational player when he was 16, 17 or 18 just stop talking about international prospects.
So? Do you want to look at the list of players that won Euroleague MVP and judge how they would do in the NBA? Do you know what 'prospect' means? They are not drafting players based on what they can do for them now, they are drafting players for what they can do for them 5+ years from now. There was little doubt that Luka would be a good player in the NBA but they had concerns that he would not have the first step and ability to get past his man enough to be elite. Wemby is generational because of his frame, size, and that he has guard skills in a big man body. NBA scouts DGAF about what he's doing in the EL now, they see a player that can grow into a hall of famer.
People on this board where saying he should have been the no1 pick before he was drafted. He won an MVP at 19 in the 2nd best league in the world. He should have been the no1 pick.
He doesn't have guard skills in a big man body my friend. Jokic does. We'll see who's right in about 3 years, take care until then, have a nice day.
Euroleague MVPs by year. That in of itself doesnt guarantee NBA success. Luka is special I dont think anyone is arguing that, but he also seems to be the outlier. 2004–05 Anthony Parker 2005–06 Anthony Parker (2) 2006–07 Theo Papaloukas 2007–08 Ramūnas Šiškauskas 2008–09 Juan Carlos Navarro 2009–10 Miloš Teodosić 2010–11 Dimitris Diamantidis 2011–12 Andrei Kirilenko 2012–13 Vassilis Spanoulis 2013–14 Sergio Rodríguez 2014–15 Nemanja Bjelica 2015–16 Nando de Colo 2016–17 Sergio Llull 2017–18 Luka Dončić 2018–19 Jan Veselý 2019–20 Not awarded 2020–21 Vasilije Micić 2021–22 Nikola Mirotić
True. Like I said Luka appears to be the outlier. So you claim that anyone aged 18 or younger that wins the Euroleague MVP should find success in the NBA am I understanding you correctly?
He should have been #1 pick, that is true, but that doesn't mean he was a generational propect. Generational prospects don't go third because the scouts are 100% confident that the player will not only be a star but an all time great. What do you think we're arguing here? We're talking about Wemby as a prospect, not as an NBA player. The fact is Wemby's body/frame allows him to be such a hyped up prospect because he's so big and has face up game. Same thing for Zion, that Zion was so large and can move so fast and had agility made him a generational prospect. Whether these players go on to actually make those predictions true or not is another matter entirely.
I am saying they are much more likely to be succesful and they are definitely bigger prospects than dudes putting up great numbers in French or Turkish national league at age 18.
He's KD like on Offense but he definitely has more of the traditional defensive anchoring big traits on defense.
