Hurts was absolute trash his first two seasons, Philly was actively looking to replace him. Now they look like idiots for even thinking it, but even still he’s as much an outlier as Allen, if not more since he has less physical ability than Allen and was a later pick.
Not true,Allen's senior year was much worse than his junior year. The same reason I didn't like Allen is the reason I dont want Levis to be the pick. But if Levis is the pick I will be rooting for him to become the next Allen.
He should show up to the Senior Bowl like Allen did and show some growth during that week like Allen did. If he decides not to go to Senior Bowl, I would personally take him off the board, unless he's injured.
That Hurts was trash his first two years doesn't mean he didn't improve each year. He went from 52% completion percentage to 61.3% and his passer rating improved as well. Josh Allen improved each year as well except for his senior season in college. Josh Allen also didn't have nfl offensive coordinators as coaches in college like Will Levis has had for the last two years.
Yeah, and as much as I love the kid being a hometown kid right down the street from where I grew up, I was against it because he looked bad. Same with Tua. Starting to look like egg on my face (and many others), I still won’t put either in elite category until it’s sustained over a couple seasons but they’re looking like hits. Kinda changing the narrative on QBs, both of them were given time and it’s paid off. Usually not that much patience with young QBs these days, instant success and gratification is more important.
Sirriani is a hell of a coach. Mike McDaniels seems to be another. Exactly what THIS team needs. A youth infusion of coaches with modern concepts.
Now we're just making stuff up. I've never been a Hooker fan. He's even older than Will Levis and he plays in the most gimmicky offense in college football. I've stated all of this previously so please don't misrepresent me. I also said this before he tore his acl.
I generally don't like older qbs in terms of the draft. If they're old, I think they should demonstrate a level of polish that exceeds the younger qb prospects. When a guy is 23-25 coming into the league as a qb and they're still super raw, that's scary to me because what's prevented them from advancing physically and mentally in the additional time that they've had over the younger qb prospects? Joe Burrow was older coming into the league, but he was very polished. He made strides in college that demonstrated mental growth expected from an older prospect. I didn't see that from Levis. Hooker's offense is so gimmicky and he on his own isn't spectacular at anything, so I've always considered him a third round or later prospect.
Brock, Mallett, David Carr, etc...had cannons. The problem was the rest of the qualities the QB position entails.
Allen had good coaches around him I get that you don't like Levis, I don't either. But you don't have to reach for reasons as to why Allen turned out great and why you don't think Levis will turn out great. Simply put the chances of Allen becoming a superstar was slim. Same as with Levis. Chances of him becoming a superstar is slim. Although both guys are talented.
This comes down to do you think the Texans can develop a raw talent like Levis, because the talent is there. If I had to bet that the Texans could develop him the answer would be, no.
What does this have to do with Josh Allen? Levis is not Josh Allen. He is not as tall nor the same weight. He doesn't have Allen's running ability. He doesn't have Allen's arm either.
