The market doesn't always get value right. It just set's the price.

as did the Phillies, Rangers, Yankees, Cards, Mets. Stupid contracts they’ll end up regretting at the tail end

OMG GTFO. If we trade Pena it better be for someone the likes of Ohtani under contract for 5+ years. Not a second tier OF.

    You're a moron.

Clearly we need to replace Verlander, sign Correa and move him to pitcher. Ohtani who?

No seriously — if Correa can’t find his 10 year contract, I’d definitely give him that 1 year, 35M offer.

The contracts are designed that way though - everyone knows these players will be overpaid later. The tradeoff is that you get them at a discount now. But beyond that, there's a pretty decent chance that $20-$30MM/yr is not a particularly big contract in 10 years.

So nobody wants Correa. Sweep in with a 5 year 160M deal. Figure out the IF later. Altuve to DH. :)

For real on letting Correa go. But in this case, its like your ex-girl left for someone with deeper pockets, but an even hotter girl shows up and you got 6 more years to enjoy the relationship with potential for life together. First year has been amazing. Lol

I think this is a reality check for Correa. Much like Keutchel who overvalued his abilities, and wanted the top of the cherry monetary rewards; Correa is finding out he’s valued but he’s not valued at what Correa and his agent feel a team should pony up.

Truth is Correa has a bad back. I heard stories he would need to lie on the floor on the airplane because it would be so painful.

Sure his back issues might be under control right now, but back issues sneak up on you all the time once you had them. It sucks, but it’s something people with back problems are too aware of.

I like Correa, he’s a fun player to root for. But his own valuation of what he feels he should get paid is astronomical, and it seems most teams are scared to death of having to give him a 10 year deal with top end money.

    Market is nuts.

No way Correa does not get paid.

Astros should offer him 1 year $45M

    1B) Abreu 80% Correa 20%
    2B) Altuve 85% Bregman 15%
    3B) Bregman 60% Correa 40%
    SS) Pena 95% Correa 5%
    LF) Yordan 70%, McCormick 30%

    DH) Altuve 10%, Bregman 20%, Correa 30% Abreu 15%, Yordan 25%

I know this should be in the outrageous no chance wish list catagory.

Everybody keeps saying that, but other SS keep getting signed before him.

Why would we offer him 1 year 45M when we have a guy who had just as good of a year and still needs seasoning.

You want to pay a guy 45m to be a super utility guy?

If he is playing everyday and producing at a level to earn $45M what does his position matter?

But "No" there was nothing serious about my post.

Remember how some people thought Carlos was stupid for not taking the Astros ridiculous offer? Or that he'd never get $300MM - or even $200MM? That no one would sign him for 10 years? That he was dumb to opt-out from Minnesota?

He's now turned his free agent years into $385MM and 14 years.
