There will never be another athlete that takes Dream's place as my favorite all time. Never.

    Congratulations Sir.

    What a piece of garbage.

Spitting in the face of the Dream by using his moment to prop up some agenda then spitting on the grave of a man that just passed.

This is a well deserved award naming for Olajuwon. I'm always happy to see him get the praise he deserves. Essentially, the blueprint for what a modern big man should be.

Number of greats > number of trophies

    so

some greats won’t have trophies named after them

Keep in mind that MJ had a career threatening foot injury his 2nd season with only 18 games played. Drexler was 6'7" and would play the 3. Rodney McCray was a #3 pick in 1983 that would have played the 4. Barkley would have been a bigtime reach with his questionable weight even back then for the #2 or 3 pick -- and unnecessary considering you had McCray and Dream. John Lucas would be the perfect fit point guard. In this Dream scenario, the big X-factor is making sure no one did cocaine when Stern ordered that sting operation.

Speaking of which, how in the world did they do 10 rounds of the draft with 12-man rosters and no G-League...

Congratulations Dream! Well deserved. The way the game is headed, I doubt his blocks record will ever be beaten.

Easily my favorite player of all time, in any sport. Class act.

Kareem has the Social Justice Champion award actually. Kobe the All Star MVP. Magic and Bird the West and Eastern Conference Finals MVPs. The dunk contest should be VC award. The 3pt should be Craig Hodges since Bird already has an award named after him. The skills challenge Nash or Wade. Humanitarian should be Dikembe.
If they did awards for categories leaders, Stockton should get assists leader, Rodman rebounds, Gary Payton Steals? Mark Eaton blocks? Shaq FG% Rick Barry FT%, Oscar Triple Doubles, Steph Curry 3 pt champ, Scoring champ i can't imagine not being MJ, but i'm sure there's something out there for LeBron they can make up!

Drexler was also coming off the bench for Paxson his rookie year so maybe they saw him as a 6th man for the trade with MJ starting, but i could have easily seen Dexler experimented with at point guard. League is copy cat and they would have tried a Magic experiment with him. Modern day we think point forward of course but i think SF's of the 80s were an extension of the big forward spot, scoring at the elbow and post up and able to defend interior with such a crowded paint back then. I think Clyde at point back then would have worked, his playmaking was underrated. I've always thought of LeBron as a Clyde Drexler on steroids. Downhill player. Sketchy shooting mechanics. A bit robotic overall in their game outside of Clydes smooth finger rolls and gliding dunks trading for LeBrons more power but hell, they both even kick their legs up with the ball held up high.

Barkley jumped to 300lbs pre draft on purpose to avoid being drafted by the Sixers. He was a top pick for a reason and weight wouldn't have stopped it from happening so i see McCray staying at the 3 in that scenario.

Cocaine's a hell of a drug. Need it to get through 10 rounds of the draft.

Very good suggestions. Looks like you put more effort into this than the nba! Many ginobili 6th man award.

I actually am not in love with naming trophies after players and don’t think the names will stick.

Hondo deserves the 6th man he was the OG 6th man, but i agree. It's silly overall. "The NBA ____ award" is all you need. The Larry O'Brien is the one that could have been changed to the Bill Russell NBA Championship Trophy and left it at that but as soon as the FMVP and the All Star MVP went to Russel and Kobe, it was obvious this was going to be a thing. I honestly expect the NBA to change their logo next.

    that's great!

Random Dream run-in - the Saturday before last, I went to McDonald's (Ella & 610) to pick up dinner for the kids. The drive-through forgot the bar bq sauce so I went inside to get it. No one was there except for a guy with 4-5 teenage boys around him all eating and all the boys were pretty big. As i'm walking to my car I think to myself, 'that family could field a pretty good basketball team'. I glance back inside and then it hits me...THAT'S DREAM!. I had to say something so I went back inside and just casually said "Dream", he looks up and smiles at me. I thank him for the years of entertainment. No pics, didn't want to bother him as he was crushing his french fries.

The man was a BEAST on defense (and offense for that matter). NOBODY has ever affected the game at both ends of the court like like he did. Nice to see him getting some recognition.

lol, on nothing being named after Lebron.

Great, great honor and well deserved. Way to go Dream!

(Of course, if the media were creating these, it would be the Dennis Rodman:rolleyes: Trophy.)
