Sssssoooooo was it because we didn't want to match 3 years/ 30 million, or because we weren't going to let him start full time? Seems kind of weak if we didn't want to pay him.
Exactly what I was hoping for and predicting. There for the taking, no worries about catcher for 3 years. Now we scramble for the next 3 years instead for no good reason whatsoever. Get your head out your ass Crane.
None that I've heard. I've just got a very personal reason to keep my eye on any athlete named Bryant.
Only reason why Vazquez not an Astros is b/c he wants to start majority of the games, but for some reason Astros are adamant Maldy will start. Just stick with Maldy/Lee/Diaz then if that's what they want.
We have Maldanado for this year. There will be more catchers available next year. There's no absolute need to solve the catcher position for the next several years this offseason.
I'm good with that actually. Bring back Yuli and Brantley at worst and we still have a tough lineup to get through.
Curious what ATL would want for d'Arnaud now that they have Murphy? He's signed next yr for 8 mil with a club option for '24 at 8 mil. 107 games last yr with ATL 18 hr 60 rbi .791 ops .472 slg .268 avg No idea how good he is defensively.
He's had at least 3 seasons in the general area as this past season (2019, 2020 was his best season by far and arguably the best offensive season of any catcher that year, 2017 and even 2015 in more limited ABs but the production was just as good). He's pretty consistent and pretty durable.
Don’t know. I can tell you that the Astros intended to sign him tonight. So my guess is the Twins offered more?
I think we should try a trade for Endy Rodriguez C Pirates AAA. He is young, He is a Switch hitter, He can play OF and 1B along with C. He would be able to learn from Maldy on Framing which he isn't bad the dude can hit
