I don't blame him. He wants to play as much as possible. Doesn't seem like the Astros were willing to give the starting job to him.
I have to imagine that was front and center of his negotiations. He probably made it clear. NGL, if I was in his shoes, I would feel that way as well.
It's bizarre. Maldonado, whom I love to no end, is now supposedly a catching Sensai. He's got about 60-70 games left in him behind the plate. That's it. Vazquez needs to catch 100 games in his inaugural full season with the Astros. Maldonado retire after 2023 and then the young catchers try to make headway to try and take over eventually.
I see we lost Vazquez because we were jacking around with the BS called Contreras. That's just terrific. First unforced error of the off season. Tragic, really.
On to D'Arnaud. He can't cost that much in a trade. Or maybe Varsho and solve both of your remaining issues in one trade. But he'll be costly. That's at least Garcia or Urquidy and 2 prospects.
