Please don’t compare those JJ texan teams of the past to this current team…We are looking to add talent at every position possible…draft BPA and that is Anderson or Carter…this current Texan team just needs talent period all across the board.

The point is those Texans teams were held back by not having a QB.

We are far far away from being just a “QB”
    Away take the BPA

You will be amazed how much better the Texans will be with a QB, draft picks and free agents next year.

I didn't say don't draft a QB 1st or 2nd round this year or next. I said I don't care if our #1 pick is a QB this year. I want the best available player except a little QB like Young. Sorry, I just don't care how good he is against college players. It's a big gamble with this team. As for building defense in later rounds I disagree. We won't get the best, and we need the best desperately with this poor excuse of a run defense and sack attack. I would love the best defensive stud in the draft. No QB is gonna is gonna transform this team miraculously into a contender with our coaches, our receivers, our defense, and our offensive line. Take the best pick in every round the next two years and build. That's all I am saying. If we take Young he will be better than what we have I am sure, but will he be better than a pick we could get next year? Could another pick this year or next work out with better surrounding talent from our draft and free agency. They could as well. Nobody knows how these guys will transition into the NFL, especially in this team.

Um, Young is better than every QB next year. His numbers say that. Williams is the only one with an argument. The problem, right now, is that the Texans may not have #1 overall next year. What happens then? You don’t have Young or Willams. You take the best QB prospect now and figure out the rest. And don’t say trade. You need to keep as many high picks as possible to fill out the roster.

    Stop it. No he’s not.
Williams and Maye have better numbers than him and are more prototypical

It’s not even a may not have. It’s highly statistically improbable that they’ll have the number 1 pick next year, especially if other teams decide to tank as well. It’s literally a foolish decision that only people who have problems with gambling would make.

He had better numbers than both of them last year which would be the same as their years now. You don’t know how they will perform next year.

But he didn’t have better years than them this year.

There’s context to everything. When Bryce Young had weapons like Addison for Williams and Downs for Maye, he had better numbers. Take away weapons for any qb and there numbers will go down. That’s not really proving anything for your case.

    Oh Really?

    Young's numbers: 75 TDs, 12 INTs...8035 yards. 65.6 completion% -32 games.
    Drake Maye: 36 TDs, 7 INTs...4204 yards...15 games. 67.3 completion %..
    Caleb Williams: 58 TDs, 8 INTs...5987 yards...65.6 completion %...24 games.

Bryce Young is not a runner, so the other 2 have much better rushing stats. Alabama have runningbacks for that LOL.

The difference is the competition. Maye's competition is nowhere near the other 2. He had a great game against Norte Dame when they weren't playing well and lost. Look at his last 3 games. He got CRUSHED by a good, not great Clemson team, beaten by a decent NC State, and beaten by a 5-7 Georgia Tech team.

Williams had great games against good competition the last 2 years, just couldn't beat Utah this year (although he did his best, the team failed).

Young lost to LSU and Tennessee this season (both top 10 teams at the time) and Lost to A&M and Georgia last year. None of those games were lost by Young losing the game. 3 of the games were against top 10 teams at the time.

Caleb Williams is a great prospect, no doubt. The odds of getting the #1 overall pick 2 years in a row are SLIM, with the expected changes in the offseason with Free Agents and another draft class. Bird in the hand.

SEC competition is a gold star when it comes to rating QBs.

Alabama WRs were not good this year. They had an insane number of drops.

Stop it. Downs is a 2nd round prospect at best. You guys make too many excuses for Young, it’s still Alabama. He didn’t carry some talent deficient team.
His team is more talented than NC and USC by far.

My biggest concern with the little guy is how many proven college quarterbacks at 5' 10" have become great NFL quarterbacks in the last 50 years? He might be great one day or he might get a rude awakening, especially on this team, with these coaches, offensive line and receivers.

Talk about cherry picking. Maye and Williams smashed Young’s numbers this year with far less talent.

Bama schedule was weak for them, USC and NC had similar level schedules.

And Maye didn’t play poorly, he’s the only player on that team.

You literally just said Downs is a 2nd round pick. None of the Alabama receivers this year will even be drafted. Seems you’re unable to evaluate with context without resorting to name calling or whining.
