Image being the guy criticizing and judging the intelligence of the wealthiest guy who has built two highly successful companies that the masses doubted his success... simply because they don't like his style of humor or political beliefs. It's really sad. And I am speaking to the right leaning people who dislike Musk a decade ago because he preached we needed a green solution. If Musk spoke well of Democrats in general, so many of his critics would instantly change. It's really sad people tie their identity so close to politics.
For someone who knows everything, your argument here lacks any semblance of context and nuance. Instead you opt for talking points about identity politics. Elon and Twitter have a long history. One that has more to do with his ego than his politics. Elon is fully capable of running Twitter well and expanding its capabilities. Nobody is questioning his ability to manage it as a company. They are questioning his intent which he’s pretty out there and open about. People on the left are concerned also about every platform out there that traffics modern day news delivery behind controlled by right wing conspiracy theorist cry babies or billionaires who only care about their tax cuts. The whole guise of “free speech” is an excuse to allow for a news outlet essentially to be 4chan. Many on the left are just sitting here wondering and rightfully concerned with how the world is getting it’s information in the modern day. They don’t see any avenue of information being delivered that doesn’t have the interests of billionaires, right wing trolls, or autocrats put at the front of the line. So it’s less about Elon and identity politics and more about the concern for the Idiocracy of our society. Facebook - owned by Zuck who is a self serving ahole Tik Tock- owned by China FoxNews- owned by a autocrat foreign billionaire CNN- owned by a major Trump donor Twitter - owned by Elon and the Saudis even MSNBC- owned by a corporation that only sees liberal as dollar signs and filters policy conversations around things like corporate greed, etc. We have a huge problem here any way you look at it unless you are in the tank for autocracy to steamroll the United States.
Chiming in. I would never say he's not smart. But I don't like him. Why would I? Because he's wealthy and narcissistic? Doesn't make sense. But Americans seem to love people like that. No different than the Kardashian obsession. These people that idolize Musk or Kardashian - are they better people for it? Politics are important to Musk. He's the one bringing it up. And he can (and does) use his influence (money) to create political change. That's always scary to me, no matter which side of the coin. Spoiler GOOD LUCK
When you fire, you literally raise the stock price, this is what he is doing......and trying to make it profitable to sell on I am sure. DD
If you want people to love you, you should keep your politics at least somewhat to yourself. It used to be the norm. But now that you have social media echo chambers, people seem to lose sight of reality.
On a side note, I guess Elon got dethroned from the Forbes list today. The owner of Louis Vuitton is now the current richest person in the world. https://www.forbes.com/real-time-billionaires/#26f0fe693d78
It's also strategically a dumb idea. Party control of government changes frequently. Going all in on a single party just doesn't work out in the long run. And he runs companies (excluding Twitter) that rely heavily on government subsidies and contracts. Going out of your way to alienate half the country is just an awful business strategy. A company with a normal board of directors would have taken his social media accounts away from him by now because none of this is in the interest of shareholders.
Not sure he is going "all-in" on a single party. He is just exposing the pre-musk twitter. I would guess he is more aligned with biden on energy issues.
He doesn't have policy positions besides pandering to the base that's easiest to pander to. Musk also knows that if **** hits the fan such as economic collapse, it's smarter to be on the side of the fascists and conservatives because they are the ones disproportionately with firearms. Law enforcement and military are disproportionately conservative and more prone to fascist beliefs.
