The right has higher standards for leftist media than their own lol.

And is Trevor Noah a leftist? He seems like the type who loves Nancy Pelosi.

Opinion: Holiday gloom at The Washington Post

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/12/17/washpost-layoffs-newsroom-fredryan/

    excerpt:

There is a broader context, named Donald Trump. The Post’s journalism and business model soared when the real estate mogul came down the escalator in June 2015 to announce his presidential bid. Traffic and subscriptions proliferated, as did new hires to handle the sensational story.

Did The Post do enough to prepare for the inevitable draining of the punch bowl?

CNN wants comedian to save it from being a joke in prime time ratings war: report

    https://nypost.com/2023/01/16/cnn-wants-comedian-to-save-network-in-prime-time-war-report/

    excerpt:

Executives want someone with both comedic and news chops — like Bill Maher, Arsenio Hall, Trevor Noah or Jon Stewart — to fill the the 9-p.m.-to-11-p.m. slot, according to Semafor.

The two-hour “news entertainment” show would appeal to viewers who would normally opt for programming offered up by Netflix, ESPN and HGTV rather than the traditional cable news junkie who flips between CNN and MSNBC, the outlet reported.

“They’re looking for their version of John Oliver,” a source told Semafor, referring to the British funnyman who has his own show on HBO.

Study shows ‘striking’ number who believe news misinforms
    By DAVID BAUDER
    February 15, 2023

NEW YORK (AP) — Half of Americans in a recent survey indicated they believe national news organizations intend to mislead, misinform or persuade the public to adopt a particular point of view through their reporting.

The survey, released Wednesday by Gallup and the Knight Foundation, goes beyond others that have shown a low level of trust in the media to the startling point where many believe there is an intent to deceive.

Asked whether they agreed with the statement that national news organizations do not intend to mislead, 50% said they disagreed. Only 25% agreed, the study found.

Similarly, 52% disagreed with a statement that disseminators of national news “care about the best interests of their readers, viewers and listeners,” the study found. It said 23% of respondents believed the journalists were acting in the public’s best interests.

“That was pretty striking for us,” said Sarah Fioroni, a consultant for Gallup. The findings showed a depth of distrust and bad feeling that go beyond the foundations and processes of journalism, she said.

Journalists need to go beyond emphasizing transparency and accuracy to show the impact of their reporting on the public, the study said.

“Americans don’t seem to think that the national news organizations care about the overall impact of their reporting on the society,” said John Sands, Knight’s senior director for media and democracy.

In the law suit against Fox News, filed by Dominion, voting systems

text messages between Fox News anchors and executive have been introduced as evidence

they show that Rupert Murdoch and Fox News hosts expressed disbelief in former President Donald Trump’s false election fraud claims,

“Really crazy stuff. And damaging,” Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch said in an email on Nov. 19, weeks after the election, regarding claims Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani was making on Fox News.

anchors like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham expressed disbelief in what Sidney Powell, a pro-Trump attorney who had aggressively promoted claims of election fraud, had said at the time, too.

“Sydney Powell is lying,” Tucker Carlson said in a text message to his producer. Meanwhile Laura Ingraham said in a message to Carlson: “Sidney is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy.”

“It’s unbelievably offensive to me. Our viewers are good people and they believe it,” Carlson responded, according to court papers. These messages came in the weeks after the election.

the newly introduced text messages also reveal this.

Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity discussed wanting a Fox News reporter fired after she pushed back on Trump's election lies

Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich had fact-checked a Trump tweet that mentioned Dominion and previous Fox News coverage on the voting machines. Heinrich "accurately fact-checked the tweet," pointing out that top election officials had said there was no evidence of any voting systems deleting, losing, or changing votes in the election.
Carlson and Hannity apparently did not take kindly to her public rejection of Trump's messaging.

"Please get her fired. Seriously...What the ****?" Carlson wrote in a text to his colleagues, according to the filing. "I'm actually shocked...It needs to stop immediately, like tonight. It's measurably hurting the company. The stock price is down. Not a joke."

Not very surprising the lengths that Fox News went to “protect the brand” and how they all knew the election lies were utter BS.

With today's legal filing in the Dominion defamation lawsuit against Fox News demonstrating intentional pushing of falsehoods by FNC, it's both ironic and funny that Republicans are the least likely to trust news media.

Traditional non-cable 24/7 news outlets have the highest levels of trust. No surprise there.
