33% and he's 32% for his career. But not only is the shooting comparison weak on O'Connor's part, Reddish is a complete negative on defense and displays zero effort. Jabari is learning about positioning and still has mistakes here and there but his overall defensive acumen and effort is way up there.
Isn't Jabari already shooting better. I mean 36.6 percent from 3 is quite respectful considering he was shooting like 25 percent to start the season
I said the numbers were similar the fact that those numbers from 3 are so close is not great especially when that's Smiths claim to fame. Let's see how the year plays out because I think he will shoot much better.
Not sure which idiot it is because I probably have him/her on ignore, but whoever thinks Jabari got his stats yesterday in a blowout obviously didn't watch the game lol. Almost all of his contributions came before everything went downhill towards the end of the 3rd when him and Sengun both sat on the bench.
bingo. and jabari is only at 24 games as a 19 year old kid. Jabari is easily a much better player than Cam.
Since Nov. 20th: Jabari Smith (9 games played) TS%: 66.2% (for the season: 52.4%) Paolo Banchero (8 games played) TS%: 52.7% (for the season: 54.5%) At some point this season (fairly soon), I think it's safe to assume Jabari will surpass Banchero in a lot of stats, but especially so in virtually all shooting metrics. Obviously Banchero will still own Jabari in terms of playmaking metrics. But are rookie of the year voters only going to look at the first month of the season just like they did last season with Jalen Green? Feels like everyone and their mom already has Banchero as a shoe-in for rookie of the year even though he's been struggling after his hot start to his NBA career.
Its very telling that you are using one stat to make a point and then using a small sample size on top of that. Do you think Banchero can't improve as well they are both 19 years old? I have no idea why people have to tear down other players to make them feel better than about guys on their team.
I don't think voters last year only looked at the first month of the season. Mobley was the heavy early favorite for ROY but Scottie Barnes ended up winning it. Green did not deserve it IMO despite having a blazing second half.
Banchero should have the volume of shooting stat numbers (e.g., PPG) easily, and his FTA/FGA has been amazing.
That's true. They did end up getting it right going Barnes and Mobley in 2nd. Not saying Jalen deserved ROY but I guess I got irked by the fact that some very vocal media members (like Bill Simmons) basically discounted everything Jalen did post ASB to the point that he didn't even have him on his first team ballot. Doesn't seem like Jabari even cares about individual accolades like ROY anyway, but just feels like he's still not getting much love from most NBA media despite him really turning it around this past month. Paolo, on the other hand, hasn't really been criticized for much of the season despite some horrible stretch of games in the past month.
I personally don't think 33% from 3 is anywhere close to 36.6% from 3. It basically means you are a different tier of shooter. All I'm saying it Reddish's claim to fame was also his 3 pointer, but he didn't live that to that in anyway. if Smith can get to the 38-39% range on the volume he's currently shooting, it is already very good.
Just because you personally think that does not make it so and another tier would 40% 33 and 36 are about the same tier.
Jabari Smith may develop a complete offensive game complimented by 38-40 on the 3pt percentage and elite defensive rebounding and defense. Jeez.
To each his own, I think 33 percent is below average. 36-37 is slightly above average at that volume at his position. 38-40 is very good. Anything above that is elite
Nothing matters less than the day to day opinion of the NBA media. I doubt the media members have time to watch any of the games, especially smaller market teams with bad records like Houston or Orlando. It's harder to change an impression than it is to make one, but over time it happens. Also, we're Rockets fans and are biased towards seeing improvement in Smith's game. It's not like we're objective observers either. I've watched nearly every Rockets game this season but only three Magic games, including the one where Banchero dropped 30 on us. The only way I'd get the impression that Banchero's been struggling is off box scores, which doesn't seem fair.
