Pretty crazy comparison you're making with bunson vs kpj, considering brunson TS is about 5% higher and his TO% is over EIGHT % lower, while having a higher assist %. As far as having little reason to think kpj won't improve, while it's certainly still possible he does, he hasn't improved much at all in his 3 and 1/3 season

And he didn't say the guy you wanted him to say, right?

    CP3
    Lowry
    Kyrie
    Harden
    Brunson
( you know, all "real" point guards )

......all of which were at home watching the finals and Marcus Smart

and someone explain to me why Brogdan is coming off the bench and
two combo guards are starting (Marcus Smart and
Derrick [White has started 20 of 25] for the number 1 seed in the East?

I think that’s ridiculous. I actually see him become a dumber player every game. But can’t say I’m surprised given the approach Silas and the org have taken with discipline, accountability and structure. I like our young guys but I really can’t stand the approach we are taking to coaching them. KPJ needs to learn how to shut up and do what he’s told. He has one of the worst approaches to team basketball that I’ve seen for a guy who gets as much time on the ball as he does.

How is shooting 5% higher ts% crazy it's making 2 more shots a night.

And Brunson is a veteran playing on a much better team, the fact you keep trotting out that 5% shows you don't have much of an argument.

Brunson has played almost double the games of KPJ.

The thing is, he is doing what he is told......this is 100% what they want......for whatever reason....

Yeah, that is why I would like to see what would happen with a proper coaching staff - one that held player accountable and had a structure to help them succeed.....I just don't see that being Silas.

i hear that and agree with you. I think he has all star talent as a shooting guard but they want him running the floor. I think he’s trying his best. I don’t think he has a high bbIQ. He shouldn’t be barking out instructions on how to play basketball. I just find the entire situation ridiculous. Folks have put up with it because we are in the tank, but as this season plays out and we start to think about being competitive next year, we are gonna find that we’ve squandered a lot of development time and opportunity to instal a system that these guys can buy into and excel in. I’m worried that other than the talent we’ve assembled, we’re gonna be starting from square one on everything else next season.

No, that's not why I wrote what I wrote. To find out why I wrote what I wrote, re-read the post. It's all in there.

Jalen needs to play next to a smart guard who can facilitate. KPJ need to be the first one off the bench at the 2 for his scoring and catch & shoot prowess as well as slide into additional minutes at other positions. I’m 100% in agreement with folks that think he should be playing starters minutes as a 6th man. That’s the only role that works for KPJ as long as Jalen is on the team. If we’ve set up expectations with KPJ that he’s our point guard of the future, shame on the org. If KPJ can’t handle the 6th man role and buy into the team concept, shame on him.

first of all the 5% (which is a massive difference) isn't the only stat i brought up, also the turnover difference where KPJ is almost double. Brunson is in his 5th year but was an older rookie so ya he's older. Are you saying they are somehow comparable players? Brunson is MILES better then kpj, and the odds that kpj is ever as good as brunson is right now are very very slim

    Wasting your time.

Doesn’t realize how massive that 5% gap in TS% is, when it absolutely is huge.

But beyond that…. HE brought up the Brunson comparison and then once you correctly pointed out how when you look beyond the counting stats(which I thought everyone had learned to do like 10 years ago) that they aren’t really that close as players at all HE then brings up the reasons they shouldn’t be compared to each other… lol

I'd be ok if he never took another stepback jumper.

Jalen Brunson is an efficient scorer. 62%, 58%, and 58% ts the last three years. He's also got 6.2 assists to only 1.8 turnovers. He's been a low turnover player his whole career, always averaged less than 2 turnovers. If KPJ was the exact same player he is today but had 58% TS instead of a 53% ts, while averaging <2 turnovers per game, I would think he has a lot of value too.

Last year I would get so mad that he would eff up on offense then take 15 seconds to walk back down the court to defense because he was pouting. I haven't really seen that with him this year, so I think he is moving in the right direction.

Clearly making more FGs, less turnovers, and higher IQ plays are desirable from him, but I can live with the progress he has made in the mental department from last season.

With the offense I saw last night you could resurrect John Stockton and he isn't getting many assists....everyone stands there and watches....

I would tear this whole thing down and start with defense......that would help a ton.

that would probably be like a quarter of his shot attempts just gone

39% of his shot attempts come after 7 or more dribbles…he shoots 35% on them

the year before it was 30% of his attempts, and he shot 34%

the year before that it was 31% of his attempts, and he shot 39%

    gross

I'm tired of talking about KPJ because if Silas. I can't make up my damn mind if the major issue is actually KPJ or Silas. After the comments Silas made about KPJ not ISOing enough or whatever it was, I really want to see KPJ with a different coach. Then I feel I can make a decision.

Either a bad coach or a horribly undisciplined player...or both.
