    Now there's a catcher I'm gladly paying $21 AAV.

The more important part is at what cost in a trade?

Pretty sure that's the one they are misspelling the name of.

Legit bat. Legit defense. You’d expect the price to be reasonable, but who knows. A lot of Royals fans think there’s no way they trade him under any circumstances, but I’ve seen that rodeo before.

    For Perez, how about:

    Lee
    Barber
    Whitley

Sign a Navarez or Barnhart in FA or trade for Jansen.

Let the young guys fight it out for the last OF job.

Sign Brantley and a pitcher like Kluber.

I could see something like Alvarez playing LF 70 games, Hensley playing LF 40-45 games and the young guys playing LF 45 or so games. If this doesn't workout make a trade at the deadline.

It would be much more likely to see Dubon and Meyers in the OF for about 40-50 games a piece the way the roster is now (if we added brantley).

Nope. He’s basically washed and not going to be catching a lot going forward. Power only DH. Hard pass.

They'll probably pass imo. Whitley can't stay healthy and might be a bust. Barber seems like he has health issues and would they want Lee? They have MJ Melendez who would be the reason why they would trade Perez.

Apparently a couple of weeks ago, at least 1 team did call the Royals about Melendez. Not sure what the Royals said(untouchable or high asking price) but if the plan is to have Perez a Royal for his entire career any interest in Melendez?

Between Murphy, Melendez, and Kirk, who's the better catcher and who costs the most/least?

looking at his defensive stats and he looks fine. Not seeing much decline there.

He has always been terrible at framing.
DRS has been -5 and -4 the last 2 years.

His hitting fell of the cliff last year.

He hit .254 with 23 HRs and an OPS of .757. Had he been at Minute Maid, I wouldn’t be surprised if he would’ve hit 30 over the fence.

The defensive stats don’t look bad. He’s actually close to Maldy.

They still have a number of options with players out there in free agency like Benintendi, Conforto, Gallo, Brantley, Myers, Pollock, Profar, Peralta and likely one or two others I am forgetting.

So they can sign someone or trade for someone like McCarthy, Thomas, or even Kris Bryant (Rockies want to move him).

I looked at Bryant, but figured he was a no-go with that contract.

Yeah, wants a deal similar to what Verlander got last year. He wants a second year option that is completely a player option and at the same amount as the first year.

So Boras basically wants 2/40 but worse than that because if he does well it’s a player option. If Conforto is washed, you are stuck paying him 20 million next year too.

There are no guarantees that Conforto is the same hitter he was a few years ago.

The Astros wouldn’t pay the full rate most likely. They would get money back from Colorado.
